The making of the cover of @collectivemn magazine ✨the tablecloth is dyed with avocado pits skins. The color is a beautiful peachy orange, unexpected for avocado pits and skins.
The construction of the sculpture happened all on set - @mstobyrae had a bundle of chicken wire and a 50lb bag of onions and she just started building. She created a sculpture that feels reminiscent of an onion bag, combined with a cascading centerpiece.
@joshgrubbs created drama with his lighting, elevating the sculpture to something breathtaking. As we were shooting, I turned to the team and said “What if this was the cover shot?” We are so thrilled it was chosen for Collective Magazine, and love seeing our work in print.
Nicollet Avenue, or Eat Street as it’s more commonly known is a neighborhood I hold dear. In 2016, @zeusjones created a community cookbook ‘From Eat Street with Love’ featuring recipes from restaurants up and down the street. I had the honor of photographing, illustrating and gathering recipes from chefs for the book.
I have fond memories of talking to chefs about the recipes they wanted featured, photographing their spaces and their food. The best pumpkin pie from @glamdolldonuts , @marissasbakerymn Enchiladas Verdes, @thecopperhen chicken pot pie, @rainbowchinese fried wild rice with chicken, and @pimentokitchen chicken wings to name a few. We also featured a round up of the best bahn mi’s down the street including @lussandwiches and @quangrestaurant
This street is beautiful, vibrant and full of the best food in this city, and this neighborhood was the scene of unimaginable hate and horrors at the hands of ICE. The grief is unimaginable. If you can support these restaurants and others on Eat Street, please do ❤️
