Sharing work from a summer shot last summer in McDowell County, Wva. for @washingtonpost ‘s Climate section: A devastating February flood in southern West Virginia exposed a growing reality in central Appalachia: climate change is intensifying rainfall and making floods more frequent, deadly, and destructive. Despite repeated disasters, limited resources, aging infrastructure, and stalled political action leave the region underprepared, forcing residents to live with constant fear that the next flood could erase what little they have left. Sharing some presidential images from the past six years: Outside of the classic podium pictures, or a politician moving across the room during an event, we try to capture moments that reflect a human element for those in public office. Having a broad understanding of their mannerisms, behavior, and knowing players in their inner circle can help craft better storytelling images. 1. A gust of wind blows President Trump’s tie in the air while boarding Air Force One. 2. President Biden shouts back at a reporter during a question following an event inside the East Room at the White House.
3. Vice President Kamala Harris jokingly grabs the face of Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff during the White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington.
4. At right: President Trump reaches for the hand of First Lady Melania Trump fowling an event inside the Rose Garden at the White House.
5. U.S. Naval Academy Midshipmen stand during the playing of the National Anthem before President Trump at the annual Army-Navy football game in Philadelphia.
6. A person paints an image of President Trump captured during an assassination attempt, at a campaign rally in Charlotte, N.C. 7. President Biden participates in a church service in Columbia, South Carolina. 8. President Biden in the presidential motorcade.
9. U.S. Secret Service Countersnipers hold a position on a rooftop in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
10. A teleprompter asks former Governor Kari Lake to depart the stage during a campaign rally in Glendale, Arizona.
