PUFF is about to blow into the Lilian Baylis Studio 💨
This remarkable solo performance moves through samba, capoeira and passinho, exploring the ancestry of Brazilian dance, starting in Africa.
A product of the long-standing collaboration between Brazilian choreographers and dancers Alice Ripoll and Hiltinho Fantástico, PUFF is a performance not to be missed.

With the parade unfolding before our eyes, at the start of the second week of #DDD2026, we plunged into the surf zone that the premiere of Ⱥdorno provoked at Teatro Campo Alegre. 🏊
A magnetic choreography made of metamorphoses, sparkles, and bodies, which marked Alice Ripoll’s return to the festival (the work is now going on a European tour). 🎈

Great 5-star review for Adorno! By journalist Rita Xavier, for DDD – Festival Dias da Dança
My selection translation:
“They crawl and track the ruins of our Eurocentric towers —tall, white, human— a collapse we insist on ‘unseeing.’ They form wild, more-than-human alliances, sniffing out their surroundings as they catch their breath, and through moans and grunts they communicate without words, anticipating what is to come. And what will come in the future of this world that drags along the culmination of all paradigms? Meanwhile, there are people who persist in their singular projects of world-making, organizing themselves and infecting our stages pasteurized by History with sweat and indulgence.”
“Let’s step back: DDD, 2019. Under the direction of Tiago Guedes, the program focused on a Brazil of bodies in tension, aiming to attract audiences who might not otherwise attend the festival. Choreographer Alice Ripoll premiered in Portugal with Cria, bringing the energy of urban funk dances—from passinho to dancinha—and aCORdo, which confronted each spectator with their own racism. Seven years later, in this tenth edition of DDD directed by Drew Klein (and in the previous two editions with Cristina Planas Leitão), the movement tunes itself to the eye of the world’s volcano, increasingly shattered and hopeless, revealing fields of tension but also real ‘artivist’ potentials. If Alice Ripoll, now well known, returns by decorating Western funeral marches with carnivalesque ornaments and the pelvic movement, when the varnish of humor cracks we notice that within the syllables of ‘adorno’ there is also ‘dor’ (pain).”
“In this new piece by Alice Ripoll, we witness a continuous rehearsal of metamorphoses.”
“And while some rehearse colonizing expeditions to Mars, others continue turning over the earth.”
