PUFF is about to blow into the Lilian Baylis Studio 💨 This remarkable solo performance moves through samba, capoeira and passinho, exploring the ancestry of Brazilian dance, starting in Africa. A product of the long-standing collaboration between Brazilian choreographers and dancers Alice Ripoll and Hiltinho Fantástico, PUFF is a performance not to be missed. 📅 13 – 14 May 📍Lilian Baylis Studio @ripoll.alice @ohiltinho #Dance #Solo #Contemporary

So happy to release this project that is so close to my heart 🇻🇪❤️‍🩹 Thank you to the @nowness team for giving me the platform to tell my story! My short film ‘We Knew the World in Fragments of Color’ explores memory as a fractured, mutable force, to mirror how living between worlds can reshape perception. Reflecting on entering the world against the political crisis in Venezuela, and migrating to the US as a child, the film draws on Latin American cultural symbolism, spirituality, and a vivid chromatic language, channeling personal memory into poetry, floral elements, and handcrafted costumes. Brazilian choreographers and dancers Alice Ripoll and Hiltinho Fantástico bring PUFF to Sadler’s Wells this May ✨ PUFF explores disguise as a way of transmitting techniques, messages and traditions from cultures that have been silenced. The word ‘puff’ can also mean a light breath — something that disappears as if by magic. Moving through samba, capoeira and passinho, the show explores the ancestry of Brazilian dance, beginning in Africa. Through fast movement and illusion, the work suggests that something is deliberately being kept from view. This solo performance continues the long-standing collaboration between Alice Ripoll and Hiltinho Fantástico, who have worked together over the past seven years through the SUAVE and REC dance companies. 📍 Lilian Baylis Studio 📅 13 & 14 May 🎟️ /whats-on/alice-ripoll-and-hiltinho-fantastico-puff/ Part of the UK–Brazil Season of Culture. #UKBrazilSeason #BrazilianDance #Passinho The UK/Brazil Season of Culture 2025-26 is a year-long cultural exchange between the two countries that showcases the diverse and vibrant arts sectors of both nations. It marks 200 years of diplomatic relations and is designed to strengthen and build cultural connections between the UK and Brazil. It is a joint initiative between the British Council and Brazil’s Instituto Guimarães Rosa (IGR). The artistic programme across both countries encompasses theatre, film, dance, music, literature, visual arts and design and features a series of talks and academic conferences.
