After losing three of our beloved cats in a year....We walked in with no expectations when fostering a doggie.
No breed in mind. No age. No plan.
We simply sat down, surrounded by dogs⦠and waited.
Then in came Asta (formerly Marron).
He walked straight over, plonked himself on my lap, and looked up at me with those deep brown eyes.
That was it. We couldnāt say no.
Within two days of becoming our foster, everything changed.
Asta chased our cat down the stairsā¦and broke his leg in two.
What should have been an easy settling-in period turned into panic, fear, and an emergency dash to the vets.
But hidden inside that chaos was an unexpected blessing, the scans and blood tests revealed Ehrlichia, a tick-borne disease that can be deadly if left untreated.
Three weeks in the vets.
Medication & operations
Months of crate rest.
Trying to keep a hyper puppy still.
Sleepless nights.
Tears.
And so many moments of asking ourselves⦠can we really do this?
Fostering isnāt always the soft, fluffy story people imagine. It can be overwhelming, emotional, and completely exhausting, especially when everything goes wrong so fast.
But somewhere between the stress, the recovery, and the tiny daily winsā¦we fell in love.
With our loyal boy.
Our big, gentle cuddle nutter.
A playful spirit with the biggest heart.
A dog who loves his hoooomans fiercely.
What started as a rough, stressful foster journey became something we couldnāt walk away from.
We didnāt just help him heal, he became family.
Forever grateful we said yes⦠and so did he.
š¾š¤.
Adoption is now official. Thank you @animalsandusfuj
Merry Christmas from our family to yours šāØļøš
This weekendās conspiracy party finally made it out the group chat and Iām SO glad it did. Legit one of my fav parties Iāve ever hosted.
A TikTok idea + tin-hat tendencies = the best night. And my friends/guests fully committed, presentations, outfits and all. We covered everything from aliens to pistachio conspiracies (donāt ask), Princess Diana, Erika Kirkā¦and more. It was Epic!
We debated, laughed, danced, and ended up deep in chats about the universe, ADHD, and expat life until 3am.
10/10. Would absolutely do this again. Highly recommend for fellow tin-hat wearers š. God knows we all need a laugh after recent months or years ey?!
Massive thanks to my fellow presenters @mydesertvilla@katetooby@azizahc@iamcatrionarose and Ally! And to our Epic DJ @djmoochi šš½
Whos in for round two???
Until next time.....nanoo nanoooo!

Thank you to the UAE leadership for protecting its residents this week, & doing it while fasting too. The calm here (given the circumstances) has only reinforced why so many of us chose to build our lives in the UAE. The UAE has protected us from one of the largest multi-wave missile/drone offensives in the regionās modern history. Let that sink in.
Whatās been far more disturbing is watching the UK media, politician's and the usual online keyboard warriors mocking British families who live in Dubai, calling us "tax dodgers" and acting as if we somehow deserve whatever happens here because we chose to make a better lives for ourselves. Instead of bitching about our lives and our government day in, day out (like many), we actually took a risk and did something about it!
Letās clear up one piece of bellend nonsense being repeated: British expats here are not being evacuated for free by the UK government. There is no "taxpayer-funded" rescue mission. The vast majority of people who have left have done exactly what everyone else does, booked and paid for their own commercial flights, often at huge cost.
So the smug commentary and lazy headlines can stop. Itās simply not true. Ony tourists have been assisted.
Many of us built our lives here because of the safety & opportunity this country offers. And after seeing the smarmy bitterness, misinformation and cheap commentary coming from some people this week, that decision feels more justified than ever.
If the choice is between staying in a country that actually protects the people who live here, or rushing back to somewhere busy sneering at us from the sidelinesā¦weāll stay exactly where we are for now, and if we do have to leave (not saying that will never happen), it won't be back to the UK..and I echo thousands who are saying the same on active forums.
Lastly, whatever anyone is feeling in the GCC right now is valid! Stop telling people how they should feel!
Respectfully...In the words of Lily..."Fuck you, very much". ššš

Not your average networking ā and definitely not your average weekend.
What a beautiful Saturday this turned into⦠a yacht, sunsets, music, showcases, conversations and a boat full of people who all brought such different energy.
Loved what Alex @alexhouseofsocial curated with House of Alex ā it felt less like an event and more like an experience.
Thank you Rio @riocaptures for pulling me into this and introducing me to Alex.
Fari @fari_zolf & Aldrin @aldrin_buzz_silva , after spending so much time in work mode together, it was so good to simply chill and enjoy the weekend with you both.
And to everyone else on that boat ā so lovely meeting so many beautiful, interesting humans and sharing the sea, the stories and the madness together.
Came back with new connections, new friendships and a full heart.
Some weekends donāt just pass⦠they stay with you.
A Creator Studeoz Production @creatorstudeoz
This is something not many people talk about.
When youāre an expat, immigrant, tax evader (whatever you wish to call us) whether from the UK, the US, Canada or elsewhere in the "west" and living in the Middle East, in my case, the UAE, your world becomes very different in ways that are hard to explain unless youāre here.
Itās not just about business, lifestyle, or opportunity. Itās about people.
The people we work with, build businesses with, sit next to at school pick-ups, share coffee with, and welcome into our homes⦠they come from places like Iran, Lebanon, Palestine, etc. These arenāt distant headlines to them. This is their reality. Their families. Their history. Their pain.
And when you live alongside that, when your children play together, when you sit across from someone as they quietly share what theyāre carrying, when you see the emotion in their eyes, you feel it differently.
It becomes personal.
There are moments where you feel completely helpless. Where you donāt have the right words. Where all you can offer is presence, empathy, and understanding.
But thereās also something deeply humbling in witnessing their strength. Their resilience. Their faith. The way they continue to show up, to give, to build, to hope, despite everything they carry.
Living here expands you. It challenges you. It connects you to humanity in a way that goes far beyond borders, passports, or headlines.
And once youāve experienced that⦠you donāt see the world in the same way again!
Sending so much love to all my friends and colleagues who are affected by the lunacy of our world right now. ā¤ļø

Day 20-something....
The booms and alerts started again a few days ago, after what had been a peaceful stretch. Not long after, a supercell desert storm swept through Dubai. Last night felt like a crescendo, thunder clapping relentlessly, lightning streaming through the cracks in our curtains from midnight until nearly 4am. It was frightening, yet strangely awe-inspiring too.
These past few days have felt so surreal. A complete clash of emotions. As someone who naturally leans into the positive, to get through darker days, there are moments of deep community spirit, of feeling safe, hopeful, optimistic that weāll get through whatever comes our way. Moments where I find myself dreaming up new ways to support my industry, to create, to rebuild, to generate something meaningful out of all of this.
And then, just as quickly, it shifts.
There are moments where it all feels like a nightmare, when the sky turns heavy and grey, and the headlines seem designed to settle fear deep in your chest. When youāre sitting in a restaurant and missile alerts sound out in unison. When you read about the death of two residents in Abu Dhabi from interception debris. When I see my child staring at a screen, longing to be back with his classmates. When I feel the weight of an income that grinding to a halt.
Itās the constant swing between hope and fear that makes everything feel so unsettling, like living in two realities at once. Surreal. And still........I move through practicing gratitude for everything sacred and blessed in my life. This too shall pass. Ps: I bloody love the UAE! š¦šŖ
Am I making sense? Anyone relate...?

A powerful and much-needed conversation for our industry today.
Todayās BCME Biz session with lawyer @ahmedelnaggarlegal focused on the legal side of running weddings and events, covering contracts, force majeure, liability, refunds, postponements, crisis management, and the new safety laws coming into place for our industry.
Todayās discussion gave our members the clarity and confidence to better navigate contracts, understand their legal responsibilities, and plan events with stronger risk management and safety measures in place.
The room was full of honest questions, practical advice, and an incredible sense of community.
Our members left motivated, elevated, and educated, ready to continue delivering exceptional events while protecting their businesses and their clients.
A huge thank you to Ahmed Elnagger for sharing his expertise and guiding our community through these critical topics.

This is 45!
45 is an odd age⦠thereās this quiet grieving that comes with certain chapters closing. Dreams that once felt possible now feel like theyāve gently left the room. But then other dreams feel closer than ever.
Your body changes.
Your face changes.
Your priorities definitely change.
And then you open the internet and get told youāre āexpiredā, less relevant, past your peak⦠which is wild, because internally? I feel more me than I ever have. More sexy. More confident.
I think women our age scare certain people⦠because we just donāt tolerate bullshit anymore. And that, my friends, is liberating.
Im still a soppy cow though. The fact that so many people reached out to me, sent me voice notes, wrote me beautiful messages, took time out of their busy days to make me feel loved and appreciated⦠it means the world. Iām always so grateful and thankful for the love.
Iām a words of affirmation gal⦠itās my love language⦠so thoughtful words mean more to me than gifts and grand gestures.
So if you took the time to send me a message⦠thank you. I appreciate you. Thank you! š¤
