For almost a decade, Galería RGR (@rgrart ) has served as a vital bridge between Venezuela’s rich postwar artistic movements and broader Latin American creativity, situating these practices within international discourse. ⁠ ⁠ At the helm of the gallery is young, dynamic art dealer Ricardo Gonzalez Ramos (@rickygr ), who established RGR in 2018. After more than five years without seeing each other, it was a true pleasure to reunite with Ding Yi in Shanghai and visit his always inspiring studio. I had the honor of spending a few memorable days together, traveling to Kunming, visiting his remarkable new exhibition “The Winding Path” at the Contemporary Gallery Kunming and the Anthropology Museum of Yunnan University, and enjoying long meals filled with great conversations and ideas for future projects.
