Olvera Street — the heart of Los Angeles’ historic El Pueblo — is often called the “birthplace of LA.” Since 1930, this vibrant corridor has celebrated Mexican culture through mercados, música, comida, and traditions that connect generations. It is where community gathers to honor roots and keep cultura alive. 🇲🇽✨
My outfit pays tribute to this same spirit of resilience and pride. 🌺
The wide-brimmed sombrero with roses recalls the soldaderas of the Revolution — mujeres fuertes who carried courage into battle. The bandoliers across my chest represent resistance and struggle. And the skirt, commissioned in 2023 for El Velorio, features the legendary María Félix — “La Doña” — an icon of Mexican cinema who embodied strength, elegance, and independence.
Together, every detail tells a story: of memory, of heritage, and of the mujeres who refuse to be forgotten.
