making a movie takes faith. not the vague, ethereal kind, but the kind that keeps showing up.
these last couple months were full of challenges: schedule shifts, crew changes, budget pivots. and then this weekend, we finally filmed The Weight of Sugarcane…our deeply personal story. production came with its own hurdles too, but the sort of faith needed to make a film is the kind that keeps trusting. trusting the vision that first captivated you, the question that keeps inviting you, the belief that something bigger is unfolding through you.
this weekend was nothing short of beautiful and spiritual. creating together reminded me of life’s hardest and most heart-warming moments. at times, i couldn’t tell where the script ended and real life began.

Voces, date ongoing.
An interview series documenting conversations with #dominicans across generations, geographies, and lived experience. Through recorded dialogue, the project assembles an evolving archive of voice, where memory, migration, labor, and identity are articulated in first person. Each exchange functions as both testimony and record, situating individual narrative within a broader cultural continuum.

We are so excited to welcome Rich Pérez to Cross Communication.
Rich is a filmmaker, creative producer, and author whose work lives at the intersection of story, place, and belonging. From his book Mi Casa Uptown to award-winning films and the multi-city We Go On grief tour, his voice carries both weight and wonder.
A former pastor with over two decades of church leadership, Rich brings a rare combination to the stage: a filmmaker’s eye and a shepherd’s instinct. He is an incredible communicator and storyteller and I am so excited to share that he is available for bookings.
At Cross Communication we believe Kingdom work should look like the Kingdom. Interracial. Interdenominational. Intergenerational. Voices from different stories coming together as witnesses.
If you are looking for a communicator who can hold complexity with care and call people deeper without losing them, Rich is that voice.
And also if you yourself are a speaker looking to be a part of both a community and a network, Comment SPEAK and we will DM you more information.
Excited to share the latest Man of the House episode featuring author, filmmaker, faith leader, and my friend, Rich Pérez.
After nearly two decades as a pastor, Rich walked away from the pulpit, left New York, and moved his family to Atlanta to pursue work in film and TV. We dove into love as a decision, not a sentiment, what it takes to really be vulnerable, and who we become in the middle of all the uncertainty.

Behind the scenes of building @bodegaxtales
Every film starts with ideas, notes, and a lot of figuring things out.
We’re working to bring Chapter One to life with the support of our fiscal sponsor UrbanTheater Company (501c3) and an amazing community of backers.
Independent stories only happen when people step in to help build them.

Today is the last day.
We’re $3,500 away from green-lighting @bodegaxtales
This project started as a simple idea:
an anthology series set in one neighborhood bodega, a place everyone passes through, where different stories collide and something unsettling hides in plain sight.
But this isn’t just a concept.
We’re building it with real people, real communities, and real stories.
The same cultures that raised me.
The same places where love, danger, folklore, science fiction, and survival all live side by side.
This isn’t a studio project.
I made this trailer using AI so that I can hire real people to make a real project!
THIS is independent.
It’s personal.
And it only exists if we finish this push today.
We’re also proud to have the support of an incredible fiscal sponsor @urbantheater Company, a Chicago-based 501(c)(3) that believes in independent storytelling and community-driven art.
If you’ve been watching quietly, this is the moment.
Help us cross the finish line!
