I bloody well did it! It doesn’t feel like that long ago I struggled with running for 2 minutes without stopping, but now I’ve completed my trilogy that started with the 5km and 10km last year. It was tough to do, but I got there, even with the weather being very Irish and switching between both lashing and scorching. @skcoachingandyoga joined me for the first 10km, and I somehow kept myself going for the next 11.1km in spite of myself (I’m kind of shocked at the pace I kept, even with how ropey I felt in places). I never thought I’d be the running kind, heck I was told at one point to avoid it, but it’s been a fun and rewarding journey to see how far I have been able to push myself. Now, to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for the evening!

Horror Sequel Builds Upon its Creepy Lore Distort 2 The Dead Among the Trees is a 2026 Irish found-footage horror film directed by Richard Waters. It serves as a sequel to the 2025 film Distort and premiered at the Unnamed Footage Festival (UFF) in San Francisco in March 2026. The story continues the mythology of the first film, where a musician found eerie cassette tapes in a forest. In the sequel, a documentary filmmaker brings that same musician back to the Irish woods to investigate his supernatural experiences involving ghostly dogs and time-bending tapes. Their goal is to verify his story and attempt to save a woman who has reportedly been trapped in the forest for 30 years. Wow. Today marks 20 years since Ally and myself got serious about all this stuff. We have been together for well over half our lives now, and gone on many an adventure together. As life does, there has been many trials and tribulations along the way, but no one has propped me up more than this Greystonian (and hopefully on occasion I’ve returned the favour to some small degree). We’ve built a life together, and most importantly, continue to grow that life. As Willy Wonka might say; there’s no earthly way of knowing which direction we are going, but that’s half the fun of it all, and I couldn’t ask for a better partner to ride that gondola down the weird nightmare-fuel tunnel (I dunno how much that film stayed with Ally, so this reference may be lost). It’s funny how the first month of a relationship feels like such a long time. Then a year is a huge milestone. 5 years? Fagedaboutit. And those were nothing when 10 years hits. But as we’ve hit 20? It feels immense, but you know the big thing striking me? My mind isn’t seeing the 20 we’ve had. It’s seeing the 20 and beyond we have ahead. And those futures that are unknowable but full of adventure? Those have every possibility of being my favourite times with my favourite person. Happy anniversary, Ally. Our dark comedy about a writer returning home to Ireland to complete his long overdue second novel, only to be plagued by a rogues gallery of local villagers, has been an exciting journey! After managing the 10km last year, it only makes sense that the new goal is a half marathon, and yesterday I made good strides towards that, even if I can barely stand today 🤣
