Looking forward to this.
I collaborated on an identical post a couple of days ago and I’ve only just noticed that they didn’t put the date on the poster, so just so you know, tonight’s the night, Saturday 25th April.
Hope to see you there. @alphabetbrighton
Today marks the end of my first incredibly rewarding term teaching at @waterbear_the_college_of_music
And what a fantistic way to end it!
Down at @waterbearvenue on Brighton seafront, watching the first year BA Electronic Music students perform, as part of their Term 1 summative assignment, which essentially added up to an all day rave with a lunch break!
What’s not to love!? 🎧🎚️🪩 💃🏻🕺🏼
Thank you all, for all your hard work this term - both on the decks and in the studio - and the fantastic shows you put on to prove it! 👏🏻
Such a pleasure to review the Music production students portfolios at @lcclondon yesterday as part of Graduate Futures x MA Animation & MA Sound Arts. Super talent across the spectrum from sonic fine art to pop music.

Had fun at @lcclondon yesterday as part of this round table discussion before hosting a feedback workshop where I heard some of the BA and MA student’s awesome new music. What a lovely bunch! And such a great energy in this building.
Had so much fun last night playing B3B with these 2 legends @evltom@alexmetricmusic at @brightonelectricstudios for the launch of Tom’s new album. Go check it out. It’s awesome. And great to catch up with some old pals too.

@evltom has got an awesome new record coming out and I have the privilege of the playing a Back 3 Back with him and the super talented @alexmetricmusic to celebrate! 🙌🏻
Evil 9’s @patpardy will also be in the house making it a proper Marine Parade reunion! So much so that it wouldn’t surprise me if @adamfreeland suddenly materialises in a puff of smoke!
There’s only one way to find out….
Ticket link in my story.

The monolith in 2001 A Space Odyssey is one of the inspirations for this audio visual installation.
So yesterday after looking at different human figures for a while and getting confused as to what scale figures I would need it occurred to me that a much easier way to scale the model would be from the 2001 monolith’s perspective. Using these dimensions I rebuilt the model at an approximate scale of 1:20.
This model monolith is approx. 17cm high, meaning the real thing would be approx. 3m 40cm high, very similar in height to the one in the movie.
The monolith will have speakers embedded into it facing both directions.
It will also have a modular synth embedded into it that will create a totally random spacious top line moving through the octaves. This is the most undeveloped part of the installation. Until I have an opportunity to play around with some modules it won’t become clear how this element will best serve the overall piece.
The 8 pillars will each hold a Pioneer CDJ, and this is actually the first idea that came to me and the rest evolved around it.
I wanted to recreate Brian Eno’s Music for Airports 2/1 using my vocals looped on 8 CDJ’s as opposed to tape loops to created the vocal aah’s layers. I am hoping to get @pioneerdjeurope to help me make this happen.

Started building the centre piece today which is a monolith of speakers.
I need more bricks than I thought. Time to buy another 100 or maybe 200? 🤔
Okay, I know, I need to buy some model people for perspective. 🧍🏽🧍🏽♂️

My Lego arrived yesterday and just now I laid the foundations to the model of a sound/visual art installation I hope to one day show in a gallery.
I’m incorporating a light I recently purchased from @goodhood which gives off such a beautiful glow that it’s inspired me use it to depict the sun’esque light source I envisage dazzling the centre piece at a 45 degree angel. A light source similar to a previous installation in the Turbine Hall at the @tate modern comes to mind. 🤔
When reading this back I saw that I had written ‘angel’ when I meant ‘angle’, but I’m going to leave it for now cos maybe the energy source that wants to create this installation through me has an angel in mind, somehow.
More will be revealed.
