Foreign beef imports are driving US ranchers out of business. And Big Ag corporations are lying to you about it. “They are bringing in imports that are a fraction of the price of our meat, blending it with domestic product, and calling it a domestic product.”
Consumers don’t even know they’re buying foreign beef.
California rancher Carrie Richards just exposed how the four big meatpackers are crushing her and fellow independent ranchers.
The big four meatpackers control 80-85% of the beef industry.
And they’re trying to use that market control to consolidate power at the expense of American ranchers and consumers.
Carrie partnered with local schools to deliver her regenerative beef to schools across California.
But the big meatpackers came in and undercut her prices by importing foreign meat.
And it’s not just schools.
“We also see it in the grocery stores.”
“We sell primarily to Sprouts Farmers Market, and we’ll see product in the case that we know came from another country.”
“And it’s labeled as if it came from here.”
“It’s sitting right next to our product, $2 cheaper.”
“It’s getting so bad that my ground beef is like $2 or $3 or sometimes $4 more than the imported stuff.”
“If we’re ever gonna survive as ranchers domestically, we can’t keep doing that.”
“We’re gonna price ourselves out of the market.”
“That’s the real threat that I’m worried about.”
“That beef will get to a point where the cattle price will crash, and we’ll lose even more ranchers because they have all this money in these expensive animals and then all of a sudden, one day, they’re gonna be worth way less.”
“And then the big four is gonna scoop up all those ranches.”
“We just have to find a middle ground.”
“And I think a little bit of a middle ground would be the Country of Origin Labeling, so at least customers know what they’re buying.”
When you choose 100% grass fed beef, you’re choosing cattle raised on pasture their entire lives, never finished on grain. That means a difference in how the animals are raised, how the land is managed, and ultimately, the food on your plate.
At Richards Regenerative, we believe transparency matters. Knowing the difference helps you make informed choices for your family and support a more regenerative food system. 🌱
Which difference stands out most to you? Tell us in the comments below.

Some brands are not adapting to regeneration — they are built around it.
@richardsgrassfed represents a model where land stewardship is not a supporting story, but the foundation of the business itself. Every decision, from grazing management to product positioning, starts with the land.
This is where regeneration moves beyond intention and into measurable reality.
Through Land to Market, that story becomes more than a narrative. It becomes something that can be tracked, verified, and trusted over time. Ecological outcomes are measured on the ground, creating a direct link between ecosystem improvement and the products entering the market.
This is what allows regeneration to scale with integrity.
Not through claims. Not through practices alone.
But through evidence.
Regeneration, not as a story, but as a system.
Not all beef is built the same. 🥩🌿
The story begins long before the plate—in the soil.
Healthy soil grows nutrient-rich grass. Healthy grass raises strong, thriving animals. Healthy animals nourish people the way nature intended.
When cattle move in harmony with the land, the result is more than better beef—it’s better nutrition, healthier ecosystems, and a brighter future.
Because when the land thrives, so do we. ✨
