I wasn’t gonna post this but!
I was working on a new song that came to me about grief, losing family and friends etc
So I set my phone to record, which I always do so I can look back at it as I work on my creativity.
When I finished playing the song and saw the video,
I realized the sun was behind me setting.
It was beautiful to see 😍.
Like a reminder, that those who are no longer here with me, they are still with me spiritually.
There is always light to be found in the dark, sometimes, we just need time to see it.
Thanks for the visit spirits and for allowing me to release these feelings in a song ❤️.

🎸16 or 17 years old traveling to manhattan to random rehearsal studios to jam with strangers I met on Craigslist. Thinking about it now, it was pretty crazy to trust random people, but living in the hood in Brooklyn I saw and was around worst things at times.
My best friend Carlos would come with me sometimes and he was like the A&R person from a record label, critiquing the music and talent lol.
Then we would travel back to the hood late at night, on the train cracking jokes without a care in the world.
No phone and with $5 in our pocket combined lol.
It was a Saturday night and giving ourselves something different to do.
Pictures like this take me back and I can remember what was my mind set in that phase of life.
I was carrying anger, insecurities and searching for something more in the bubble I was in.
I questioned, why am I here? Would people care if I disappeared? I had a emo phase lol👨🏼🎤
Music was my escape, all types.
Soul, funk, Rock n Roll, Hip hop, you play it and my ears would listen.
Being funny and laughing was my release.
Being curious and making connections pulled me into the unknown.
This 17 year old Rick would be happy to know, I kept finding a way and the guitar is still there when I need to play. 🎸

Had to reschedule some dates for my solo show in May and August to handle some personal reasons.
I’m learning to trust the process, adapt and we’ll be back to perform it again.
