My whole life I’ve heard about dreams coming true. I’ve even been a witness watching miracles unfold for so many others.
In every single one of those instances, I would come to learn that miracles aren’t just necessarily random occurrences, but often they are the culmination of a determination + perseverance that too often go overlooked. We celebrate the miracle, but not the hard work + resilience that made space for the miracle to occur.
Wednesday night, for all of us in that room — we bore witness to that very kind of miracle. Watching my dad, @sinbadbad , come alive on that stage, in a way ONLY he can, took my breath away. He has fought sooo hard to be here + deserves EVERYTHING springing forth from this moment.
He is HIM. The GOAT.
When I started my comedy journey, it was after my dad’s stroke so I never thought we’d be able to share this together. BUT GOD. 🙌🏽
This was the biggest moment of my career to date. Yes, it’s mad cool that I got to open for my dad, but don’t think for a second that it’s lost on me or I don’t hold the FULL weight of understanding that I also opened for a LEGEND (dad or not).
I’d say the other night was a dream come true, but that night was a million times MORE than anything I could’ve ever imagined.
This is LEGACY. ✨👑

I want to thank @tylerperry for giving me this incredible opportunity at such a pivotal time in my life. I don’t have the words to express how much this means to me and my family. It was an honor to be able to work with you. Seeing how you work and interact with your cast and crew was inspiring. Thirty years ago, I had a dream — bring my people together for a weekend filled with music and laughter in one of the most beautiful places on earth. That dream became reality with the very first Sinbad’s Soul Music Festival, right on the breathtaking island of St. Martin. Over 5 incredible years, we created more than just an iconic music festival—we built a family.
Years later, my brother Mark Adkins carried that same spirit forward with @soulbeachmusic .
And now, three decades later, Mark is taking it back to where it all began. This Memorial Day weekend @soulbeachmusic is returning to St. Martin!
Y’all know I’ve been on a journey with my health these past few years, and your prayers and support have meant the world to me. I’m working hard and, God willing, I’ll be celebrating 30 years of this dream with you all.
We’ll be throwing down like we never left!
But first, I gotta know….Who all gon’ be there?
