we’re hiring in the woodshop!
// Woodshop instructor (part-time)
We are seeking a dynamic, curious instructor to help bring the joy of woodworking to life in our woodshop. We value curiosity, patience, and a love of the craft above all else. Our shop has a hand tool emphasis, and instructors must understand the intricacies of bench planes, chisels, and the processes of using these tools across a range of woodworking processes.
// Woodshop assistant (part-time)
Between daily woodshop classes and our membership-based open shop, our woodshop is a bustling place. We are seeking a part-time shop assistant to support the range of tasks from stock prep, to tool maintenance, to student and member support.

A Japanese toolbox is a simple, beautiful way to store and organize lots of things — tools obviously included — and could be adapted to hold art supplies, books, and custom storage of all kinds.
Over the course of 4 sessions, learn how to build your own toolbox. Learn measuring and marking, plus sawing, planing (end grain) with shooting boards, and fastening (either dowels or traditional nails). These boxes are traditionally left unfinished and allow to patina with the beautiful dings of a well-used life.
This is a fantastic beginner project. For the totally unacquainted, a brief ‘learner session’ can precede the class. The class itself will introduce students to the satisfying process of making a functional and beautiful object that will last a lifetime (or more).
