RFK Architects take pride in offering internships to young A Levels students interested in architecture and design, providing them with a firsthand experience of the multifaceted world of architecture. We believe in nurturing future talent by exposing them to various aspects of architectural work. Throughout their internship, they engage in research on the famous architectural pavilion – Mies van der Rohe pavilion, in Barcelona while drawing plans, sections and elevations. They delve into the intricate process of digital and hand modelling. This year we have had three interns Martha, Clementine and Senka who have done greatly. The Hallfield Estate was designed in the immediate post-war period by Tecton, led by Berthold Lubetkin. Following the dissolution of Tecton, the project was realised by Denys Lasdun and Lindsay Drake in the 1950s. Construction took place in two phases during 1951–55 and 1955–58.
Hallfield is a 2000 bed estate with studio, one, two and three bedroom flats. Hallfield was designated a conservation area by Westminster City Council in 1990, and the majority of Estate buildings were Grade II listed in June 2011. RFK Architects restored and upgraded 2no flats within the estate. RFK’s designs are sensitive to the original intent, upgrading to better suit contemporary living. From the initial concept to the final execution, every detail was carefully considered to create an immersive and unforgettable experience. The exhibition showcases the rich history and cultural significance of death and the afterlife, exploring themes of remembrance, mourning, and cultural beliefs. With interactive displays, thought-provoking theatrical installations, and stunning visuals, we have created a space that not only entertains but also educates and inspires. The exhibition aims to challenge visitors' assumptions and encourage deeper reflection on the nature of life and death.
