We are restoring the wild heart of our continent โค๏ธ๐ฌ
Our promo video brings our vision to life: showing how people are reconnecting with wilder landscapes, as natural processes return and wildlife finds its place again.
It takes you across river valleys ๐, forests ๐ฒ, and mountain ranges โฐ๏ธ where nature is being given more space, and species are returning.
๐ None of this would be possible without the commitment of teams on the ground, working with communities to support natureโs recovery, enable wildlife return, and shape landscapes where people and nature can thrive together.
We are also deeply grateful for the generous support of Cartier for Nature, the Ecological Restoration Fund, Arcadia, @wereldnatuurfonds , @oak_foundation , @healthysustainablespace , @postcodeloterij and other supporters, whose contributions make large-scale rewilding across Europe possible.

๐พ Some species have already returned, others are gradually expanding their range. As Olivier Raynaud, Team Leader of Rewilding France explains, natural recovery has been underway for decades.
๐ Rewilding here is about building on that momentum, restoring the processes that allow ecosystems to adapt in a changing climate, and creating the conditions for richer, more dynamic landscapes in the years ahead.

Ecological processes depend on connection ๐
Rivers flow across borders, wildlife moves through connected habitats, and ecosystems rely on space to function. When landscapes become fragmented, these natural processes are disrupted.

A 60-year shift in forest management in the Dauphinรฉ Alps ๐ฒ
In theย @parcduvercors ,ย @rewilding_france ย andย @villededie ย have signed a 60-year agreement to let nature lead its own recovery across 432 hectares of forest. It introduces an approach that creates space for natural processes within a managed communal forest.
๐ฟ 90 hectares will be left without logging, allowing natural regeneration to take the lead.
๐ณ Forestry continues elsewhere, with more space for deadwood and standing trees.
๐ฆ Hunting groups have agreed not to hunt in these areas.
๐ถ The agreement includes long-term ecological monitoring and financial compensation to the municipality.

Each year, millions of birds cross continents, connecting landscapes throughout Europe and beyond. ๐
Yesterday was ๐ช๐ผ๐ฟ๐น๐ฑ ๐ ๐ถ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฑ ๐๐ฎ๐ โ a reminder of the extraordinary journeys migratory birds make, and of the landscapes that help sustain them along the way.
Across Europe, rewilding is helping restore the rivers, wetlands, forests, grasslands, coasts, and floodplains that migratory birds depend on. These places offer stopovers where birds can rest and refuel before continuing their journey.
๐ฑ๐ As they move, birds help shape the landscapes they pass through, dispersing seeds, controlling pests, cycling nutrients, and linking ecosystems across regions. Their return is both a response to recovering nature and a driver of how these landscapes function.
๐ Letโs keep supporting the landscapes and natural processes that sustain these journeys.

๐ For a strong trout, an old timber dam is a nuisance. For a weaker swimmer, it is a wall.
In Swedenโs Nordic Taiga, Isak, Rewilding Officer at @rewilding_sweden , shows how removing old timber dams is helping reopen rivers for migrating fish.
In a river system shaped by centuries of human use, every barrier removed brings aquatic life closer to moving freely across the whole catchment, contributing to healthier and more resilient freshwater ecosystems. ๐๐ฟ

The landscapes we live in are not separate from us. Water, soil, wildlife, and people are part of the same system, each influencing the other.
When nature has space, natural processes can return. Rivers flow more freely, vegetation diversifies, and wildlife can come back where conditions allow. ๐ฟ
By restoring natural processes, such as grazing by large herbivores, seasonal flooding, and forest regeneration, rewilding helps create the conditions for landscapes to function as connected systems that both nature and people can rely on. ๐
