Happy Mother’s Day!
One of my favorite moments in the Gospel of John is Jesus feeding the multitude with the fish and loaves given by the young boy. I love Jesus’ compassion and power. I love the invitation to partner with Christ in making miracles. I love the boy’s generosity and selflessness.
Today I think about the mother that raised that type of kid. A mother who taught her child to love enough to see others needs, to not be afraid, and to be ready to give what they have. Seems that he was taught to have open eyes, open hands, and an open heart.
I am so thankful that in my life have had this kind of mother, mother in law, many other motherly women, and the mother of my children. I celebrate the miracles you are and the miracles you have partnered to create with God.
I am in Guatemala this Mother’s Day. Please accept my love, gratitude, and these pictures of flowers from the garden of a wonderful Guatemalan mother I met yesterday. I love you Mom, Ella, Becky, and all you sweet Mamas.

@wesleyofmt Alums. With hosts of events, tasks, and stresses, it was wonderful to join a heavenly host to rejoice how Christ just keeps showing up (especially in the dark places). So thankful for all who made tonight wonderful and for all those creating these spaces for the next week. I feel like I have been able to find such joy in several places this season in churches, schools, and homes. REQUEST: I would like for anyone to share when you have special services happening over the next week in the comments to this post. May your invitation be inspiring to someone who needs to find hope in the waiting or needs a silent night for their soul or wants to simply come and adore!
He is sweet, funny, and kind. He loves his friends and seems to be a good one in return. He reads…like a lot. He is joyful, caring, a deep thinker, and is a trivia master. He is either full speed or off; not much in between. He is a blessing and God has made our lives better with him. He is extra. He is Huck. Today, he is 11. Let’s praise God for this amazing dude. #huckabyraybday
Happy Birthday to the one, the only, the Chief Beth Morris!! It is a deep blessing to be able to work with her. She joyfully and effectively wrangles chaos. She offers care and creativity each day. She and her family are family to me!! Praying you can offer your gratitude and well wishes to her on this the anniversary of her 39th birthday!!
Didn’t take a picture today but I had the blessing to meet with @mt_wbb today after their practice. These women and coaches work so very hard and represent the MT community so well. It has been a joy to get to be a partner and a fan. Our ministry and my family has been enriched by this program. It gave an opportunity to reflect on the last few years of amazing people and on/off court victories. You can even see me when I got to be there for their NCAA win (check it out when you visit the Murphy center). A great video made by @katelynn_finchum about our latest trip to Xela with @acdguatemala . We took a smaller team that included our dear friend Rev. Martha from St. Marks to stay in the new Mission house and meet a new school. It was so deeply impactful as always. Thanks to all of our partners and pray for a team from FUMC that is there now.
