Our expert educators facilitate Primary School workshops that open the door to new ways of learning where creativity, sustainability education and connection come together. Through hands-on experiences with reuse materials, children are empowered to experiment, collaborate and see everyday objects, and the world, in a new way.

Loose Parts Play invites children to explore a collection of reuse materials such as pipes, buckets and fabric in an open play environment. After a short safety briefing, children freely experiment, invent games and repurpose objects as they collaborate and create. Our educators, trained in Loose Parts Play and Creative Reuse, pack the van with a curated range of industrial and reuse materials perfect for learning and play! Huge banners, cardboard barrels, fire hose, pipes, buckets and more.... We drive to your site and set up the materials and create an open-ended play space. Our experienced educators support the play, encourage exploration, and help children test ideas and take creative risks. Children build, invent, collaborate and problem-solve using loose parts – leading the play themselves.

We’re excited to be attending the ALoT Summit Workshops this August and connecting with Libraries of Things from across Australia.
At Reverse Garbage, we know the power of sharing resources, building community and keeping valuable materials in use for longer. We’re looking forward to exchanging ideas, learning from others already running LoTs, and exploring new ways communities can embrace repair, reuse and circular economy initiatives.

Could your early learning team benefit from hands-on sustainability professional development? Eligible ECEC providers may be able to access support through the ECEC Workforce Grants Program.
Reverse Garbage can come to your center to deliver practical PD that supports educators to rethink materials, reduce waste and inspire creative learning through reuse. Our two offerings include Creative Reuse: Why and How To, which explores sustainable classroom practices, sourcing materials and embedding creative reuse habits, and Loose Parts Play 101, which looks at the benefits, logistics and implementation of open-ended play using reused materials.
Both sessions include time for educators to explore materials hands-on and consider how these practices could work in their own learning spaces.
Applications close July 3, if you would like any further information on our professional development offerings, or support with submitting your application please email our grant writer at [email protected]
