🌊 At the Ocean Sciences Meeting in Glasgow, REV Ocean (Booth 160) and @hubocean (Booth 169) are side by side — and that’s no coincidence.
REV Ocean will be generating high-quality ocean data at sea, through missions focused on protection and restoration. HUB Ocean helps unlock the power of that data — making it accessible, usable and impactful through the Ocean Data Platform.
If you’re at OSM, come by and see how we’re working together to accelerate solutions for a healthy ocean.

🌊 Great to be at the Ocean Sciences Meeting in Glasgow this week!
It was a fun day launching our booth and connecting with researchers, partners and early-career scientists, sharing how REV Ocean is building a unique platform for ocean protection.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by to meet the team, explore collaboration opportunities, and learn more about how REV Ocean connects science, people and decisions to drive impact for a healthy ocean.

Big news from our #ArcticDeep expedition with UiT, just dropped in Nature Comms! ❄️🌊
In May 2024, scientists discovered the deepest cold seep ever found in the Arctic. 🤯 They're the Freya Hydrate Mounds, found nearly 4 km below the ocean surface.
The research was led by our friends and expedition partners @uitnorgesarktiske and it has just been published in Nature Communications.
This discovery helps us understand how carbon moves in the ocean, why life can thrive in extreme environments, and why the deep Arctic needs careful protection as human activity increases.

💙 As we close out this year’s Breaking Waves series, these wins remind us what collective action can achieve. What ocean progress are you hoping to see in 2026? 💭👇
In November, our Science and Operations teams had the chance to spend time onboard the vessel together. Visits to the Damen Shipyard are always exciting because you can truly see how much progress is happening with each return. 🚢✨ Being on the vessel and spending time with the crew helps us grow as a team, learn together, and prepare for future missions.
We also welcomed friends and colleagues from the Alfred Wegener Institute, Laeisz, The Ocean Cleanup, and the WellFate project. Their insights and feedback are incredibly valuable as we continue shaping the best possible working spaces for science and ocean solutions.
Here’s a glimpse behind the scenes of some busy and inspiring days on the vessel!

🐙 Which story made waves for you this week? Or is there another ocean win we should spotlight next time? Let us know below! 👇
REV Ocean played an active role in supporting the first-ever joint Submersible Operators Group (SOG) and International Submarine Symposium, held last week in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain.
Our Science Director, Dr. Eva Ramirez-Llodra, and Science Systems Manager, Leighton Rolley, were members of the steering committee, helping shape an event dedicated to advancing knowledge sharing, safety standards, and collaboration across the global sub-sea vehicle community.
Hosted by the @ieo_oceano and co-hosted by @piscessubmarine , the 1.5-day SOG symposium gathered around 70 participants from across the world — including submersible operators for science, tourism, and defense, as well as manufacturers and tooling experts.
👏 Stig Vågenes (Subsea Manager) and Hector Salvador (Sub Pilot) from REV Ocean were also in attendance, making great contributions to discussions and collaboration throughout the event.
Alongside REV Ocean, @inkfishexpeditions and @seakeepers represented the Pink Flamingo Society — a group of private foundations that operate research vessels, with several also managing submersibles. The network fosters collaboration and shared learning across ocean exploration initiatives worldwide. 🌐💙
