About 3 days later Rachel came into my office, closed the door, and said: “Okay, I really shouldn’t tell you this, but Desi and Gracie ARE dating!” I never dreamed I would one day office8™️at their wedding with my friend and colleague @rev.marcusj . To be allowed into Desi & Gracie’s life means that you’ve been given access to a beautiful world of young people who love and care about each other and WANT to be around old people. @sophiaehoward It means you’re a Gen X Auntie. It means you’re a Maghen. @courtneymoorethemerrier @_alliebaker <or maghen adjacent @_spencerbaker > It means inclusion in multiple text threads covering a variety of topics. It means you gained a family that you never knew you wanted, but desperately needed. @ethanjones0 @christinedmjones I have learned far more about life by being in Desi & Gracie’s circle than I will ever be able to teach them, lessons on hope and joy and unconditional love. After I announced them husband and wife the joy from the congregation was so profound, and loud, and the applause lasted so long I had to wait to say the line that really matters: What God had joined together, let no one put asunder.

This past weekend I was inspired as I attended the installation of my friend @cecilduffie as Dean of @tuskegee.chapel . I was inspired by the spirit of faith and scholarship that permeates every inch of the campus. I was inspired by the intentionality of the administration to center the chapel as the core pillar of its institutional existence. I was inspired and affirmed in the fellowship of colleagues and friends who co-labor in this sacred work of chaplaincy and campus ministry. I’m grateful to @jpuac for the ways she shows up as a friend, colleague, and hermana in this work. I return back to @hustontillotsonuniversity to continue making @ht_rlcm a faithful witness of religious, spiritual, and social impact for HBCUs!

Wallace and their revolutionary chaplain Rev Marcus Jones for Religious Emphasis Week, March 30 – April 2. @hustontillotsonuniversity @mkwthe7th @rev.marcusj This week, we’ll be engaging the theme: “A More Global Village: Being Beloved Community in 2026.” In partnership with @daytonequity (@ashtondupler33 ) and Methodist Theological School in Ohio/MTSO @mtsoedu (@vbridge90 & @aprilcasperson ) this will be an intensive week of presence, dialogue, and discernment with students and the broader university community. Together, we’ll wrestle with a central question: What does it mean to discern your vocation in a world that is shifting politically, economically, and spiritually? Through the lens of NEEMA (grace), we are exploring how faith meets real life—how calling becomes action, and how community becomes a vehicle for transformation. Prayers appreciated as we lean into sacred conversations, prophetic imagination, and the next generation of leaders. I’ve been processing over these last couple of months what it means to “Come Alive” and I think I’ve figured out how that works for me. Feeling all of our emotions reminds us of how alive we are and how it’s a natural progression of life.
