So @ms_tissong decided two months ago that she had the perfect birthday TikTok for me. She came with reference videos and proceeded to bring props.
Then the whole gang came together to make this work. This is what happens when you have people who love you, they will come together to make a TikTok video for you. So shoutout to this production team.

Today is @uncleramz ’s birthday. My biggest cheerleader.
He was the one who drove me to Multichoice when I was like 10 so I could submit my CV to HR because I really wanted to be a KTV presenter. He also indulged me when I said let’s start a production company together while I was in my third year at film school.
He always supports my delulu nature and we wouldnt be where we are if he didn’t always tell us to just jump.

Today is @katt_tv ’s birthday and only for today, I will allow the slander where you guys pretend to not know who is older.

The year was 2016.
We got 10 SAFTA nominations for our two sitcoms #MyPerfectFamily and #KotaLifeCrisis.
We were awarded the NFVF Fiction Slate and out of that slate we gave the world global hits in #SeriouslySingle #DisasterHoliday #LobolaMan.
London called and I didn’t like it.
My birthday trip was in Morocco and it was meant to be a group trip but people suddenly couldn’t come and I decided then that I can’t spend life waiting for people to be ready and that’s how I went on my first solo trip. I travelled to four cities by public transport by myself and it was the best thing I ever did. I even learnt to surf which was the worst thing I ever did. 😅
I also went to Paris for the 2nd time and still didn’t like it.
@burntoniontv was 8 years old and we used to write blog posts. We also wrapped the 4th and final season of our very first tv show ever, My Perfect Family.
I was the one of the voices of Vuzu and used to get invited to the best parties.
Ended the year in Bali for Roxy’s 30th birthday.
What a time.
Take that solo trip. Be anonymous in a country where you don’t speak the language. Work your selfie camera to death. Ask strangers to take pictures of you and smile and say thank you even if you don’t like any of them. Take random walks and wonder if it’s even safe. Strike up random convos. Eat all the food even the unfamiliar.
Sometimes you will go why did I do this (especially if you go during your luteal phase) but on most days it will be the best decision you ever made.
It’s been three years since my last solo trip and this one was much needed.
