I have been really quiet on this account. It’s hard to get a book done with life pushing back. Things are slowly moving forward on the new book and both Rumpus and my family have been out getting great new entries into the field guide.
Stay Up.
I grew up riding the train to school in Boston and looking at graffiti and making bad attempts. When I moved to Kansas City I met members of what I later became apart of as ATT Crew. All there was out there were random books and magazines and hard copy photos. I found myself out of respect and influence mimicking subject matters done before because it made you feel part of the longer narrative of the history.
The more I lived in KC, the more I realized that I needed to be looking at what was around me… embrace it more. That’s how I came up with the @resound_fields and started building that world. We did a bunch of themes with these long grass fields and their pieces sitting in them. Their letters became more like historical sculptures not fully understood by the field’s inhabitants, but woven into their lives forever like lettering on the walls of the largest cities.
I’m working on my next story/book and this theme continues. It’s part of the islands origin but not understood.
This is an illustration in the new book and as one of the early opening scenes it is done with @gearatt just like we used to do in the dirty alleyway with few understanding what we were trying to do.

Rumpus was kind enough to drop off some beetle specimens from around the Resound Fields. He has been working hard out in the fields and hasn’t had much time to do updates.
