MacArthur once reminded cadets that “[T]he soldier, above all other men, is required to practice the greatest act of religious training — sacrifice.” That truth remains unchanged. The uniforms may evolve, the threats may shift, but the character required to lead does not. I was incredibly honored to meet the Artemis II crew at a @housesciencecmte reception this week. These brave astronauts: Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, and Mission Specialists Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen, traveled farther from Earth than any humans in history. Their courage and dedication should be applauded, and their example followed!

Great discussion with @forcountrycaucus on today's readiness challenge and the urgent need to invest in American Airpower. The U.S. Air Force is currently flying the oldest and smallest fleet in its history as global threats intensify and more is being demanded of it than ever before. Grateful to hear General @daviddeptula 's candid insights on rebuilding capacity, modernizing aging aircraft, strengthening readiness, and ensuring the U.S. maintains air superiority for generations to come. We've seen what American Airpower can achieve. The time to invest in it is now.

During National Police Week, we pause to honor the men and women in law enforcement who put on the badge each day to serve and protect their communities. This week is not only about recognition but also remembrance. Across the country, officers have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Behind each name is a story of service, a family forever changed, and a community that owes a debt it can never fully repay. “Duty, Honor, Country: Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be.” - General Douglas MacArthur MacArthur’s words endure, even 64 years later, because they are true. And for those of us shaped by West Point, they are not just remembered, they are lived. Congratulations to this year’s Congressional Art Competition winner! Riverside High School Senior Selena Ni's artwork, titled "Afternoon Tea" is an acrylic on canvas painting of a tea set, set in the late afternoon light. The painting "represents the early colonists adopting the British habit of drinking tea; the Revolutionary War turned tea-drinking into a political protest". Selena's sister-in-law enjoys drinking tea with her, and this inspired her to make this artwork as well.

Happy Mother’s Day to the incredible women who keep our families strong and our country grounded. Mothers are irreplaceable and absolutely essential to the family unit. They nurture, instill core values, and place the well-being of their children over themselves every day. I am grateful for my mom, Meg, and others like them. Thank you for all you do, today and every day.

Belmont University continues to invest in the future and expand opportunities for students across Tennessee. I am proud to represent so many great academic institutions in Tennessee’s seventh district. Thank you, @belmontu , for allowing me to be a part of a wonderful ceremony. I’m especially grateful to Mike Curb for the invitation and for his enduring vision and leadership in shaping the next generation of talent in the entertainment and music business.

The courage and sacrifice necessary to liberate the world from tyranny can never be overstated. As a veteran, I look to that generation of warriors as a permanent example of courage, integrity, and selfless sacrifice. We must honor their legacy by living up to those same standards.
