Because underneath the big set pieces and legacy name, is an innate sense of opportunity. Finally, broadcasters are providing the space for performers and writers to take risks, and trusting relatively unheard of artists is magic!

Not everything was polished (and honestly, good! It wouldn't be funny if it was perfect!). The rough edges are where the personality lives because that’s where you see instinct, originality and talented artists figuring it out in real time.

There’s a generosity to it too. A sense that the show wants its talent to win rather than punching down on them, and that’s rare in UK comedy.

If this continues to back new voices, stays playful and resists the urge to sanitise, then it will become something genuinely important for the UK comedy ecosystem and the future.
