Receiving an honorary doctorate from Morris Brown College (@morrisbrownatl ) is deeply meaningful, especially from an institution rooted in resilience, legacy, and Black excellence. šŸŽ“šŸ–¤ As an HBCU graduate myself, I know firsthand the power these institutions have to shape futures and strengthen communities. Congratulations, graduates!

For 60 years, The Atlanta Voice (@theatlantavoice ) has been telling OUR stories. From the basement of a home in Mechanicsville to becoming the paper of record for Black Atlanta, they’ve documented the culture, the movements, the breaking news, the victories, and the people that make this city what it is. Atlanta wouldn’t be Atlanta without The Atlanta Voice. Congratulations on 60 years of Black journalism, truth-telling, and community impact. šŸ–¤šŸ“°

My famous chili entered the Congressional chef competition šŸ„˜šŸŒ¶ļøšŸ’œ Joined March of Dimes (@marchofdimes ) for the Gourmet Gala to support maternal and infant health and help raise awareness around the care, resources, and investments families need before, during, and after pregnancy. Good food and a good cause? That’s a win every time.

As a proud third-generation HBCU graduate and representative of Georgia’s #FightingFifth — home to the largest consortium of HBCUs in the country — I know firsthand that HBCUs change lives. Ā  I spoke in support of the IGNITE HBCU Excellence Act because our students deserve campuses that are safe, modern, innovative, and fully funded. When we invest in HBCUs, we invest in opportunity, equity, and the future.Ā šŸŽ“

From Outkast and gospel music to Black art, dance, and storytelling rooted right here in the #FightingFifth, Georgia’s culture has always shaped the world. šŸŽ¶šŸ‘Ā  Ā  Joined colleagues, artists, and advocates for Congressional Record 2026, a celebration of the power of music, cultural preservation, and the arts to bring people together. It was also great connecting with Alexis Joel and so many others who are passionate about protecting arts and music education.

Election workers are not political targets. They are public servants who sacrificed their time to ensure our elections are free, fair, and secure. The Department of Justice’s attempt to obtain the personal information of Fulton County election workers is dangerous, unjustified, and deeply alarming. No election worker should have to fear harassment, intimidation, or retaliation from the very government they serve. I’m demanding answers on the attempts being made to undermine trust in our elections and condemning these intimidation efforts on our elections process.

Morehouse School of Medicine is not just here for the moment, it’s a movement. Appreciate @repaoc pulling up to the #FightingFifth to join me at Morehouse School of Medicine (@morehouseschoolofmedicine ) as we talked about the maternal mortality crisis impacting mamas in Georgia and across the country. At a time when attacks on research funding at the NIH, CDC, and FDA threaten health equity, we have to keep centering mamas and fighting for the care and resources our communities deserve.

Today, Morehouse School of Medicine welcomed U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@repaoc / @aoc ) and U.S. Representative Nikema Williams (@repnikema ) for Not a Moment—A Movement: The Future of Maternal Health Equity. Led by Dr. Natalie Hernandez-Green and MSM’s Center for Maternal Health Equity (@msm_cmhe ), the event brought together leaders in healthcare, policy and community advocacy to address one of the most urgent health equity challenges of our time. Congresswoman Williams shared her own maternal healthcare experiences and the importance of providers who advocate for their patients. Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez recognized Morehouse School of Medicine as a leading center in the movement for maternal health equity and toured MSM’s labs to see our researchers’ work firsthand. At Morehouse School of Medicine, we are proud to help lead the creation and advancement of health equity to achieve health justice — through research, community partnership, policy engagement and action!
