Today, House Republicans continued their attempts to privatize VA. Siphoning off resources from VA and sending veterans into a system unprepared to meet their needs is wrong, and can lead to worse outcomes.

Secretary of Education Linda McMahon is allowing students be in unimaginable situations where abuse and discrimination go unchecked. She allowed lawyers to be fired and now is asking Congress to further defund the Office of Civil Rights when they are already experiencing unprecedented backlogs. She is not protecting students and should resign.
DOGE fired civil rights attorneys at the Department of Education, and it took Secretary McMahon 10 months to hire them back. The result: a massive backlog of cases and students having to endure unimaginable situations without assistance from the Department charged with protecting them.
Conditions at West LA are unacceptable, and frankly, dangerous. Veterans’ lives are at real risk. We must address the root causes of the problems at West LA, or we will fail the thousands of veterans who should be able to call the National Soldiers’ Home their home.
The Department of Education has threatened to withhold fuding and take legal action against schools for exercising their free speech. Students deserve to learn about the world even if Trump and Secretary McMahon disagree.
