This Congress, there's been a disturbing rise in the use of dehumanizing anti-trans rhetoric, including slurs, by US Representatives.
That's why today, @congresswomansarahmcbride & @repmarktakano led 213 Members demanding Speaker Johnson condemn this rhetoric & enforce House rules of decorum.
Today, Equality Caucus Chair @RepMarkTakano & our co-chairs reintroduced the #EqualityAct in the 119th Congress to enshrine explicit protections for the LGBTQI+ community into federal law & safeguard the rights of LGBTQI+ people.

Today, we're announcing that a historic 191 Members of the U.S. House have joined the Congressional Equality Caucus this Congress—the most we've ever had at the start of a Congress!
See our full membership, led by Chair @RepMarkTakano , at the link in our bio.
After a landmark ruling by the EU’s highest court, Poland has officially recognized a same-sex marriage for the first time!
We join the Polish LGBTQI+ community in celebrating this historic day. The fight for full equality continues, but this is a moment worth celebrating! ❤️🏳️🌈
I want to take a moment to honor NBA player Jason Collins, who passed away earlier this week from cancer. He was the first out gay player not only in the entire NBA, but in any of the 4 major sports leagues.
I had the honor of meeting Jason at a Chicago House benefit many years ago. Before that I got to watch him play for the Minnesota Timberwolves against our Chicago Bulls. He was always a kind soul and trailblazer.
May he rest in peace.
In quashing a subpoena by the DOJ, a Trump-appointed federal judge BLASTED the Department over their manipulative & unlawful efforts to access young transgender patients' medical records, saying the DOJ's behavior makes them "unworthy" of the courts' trust.
Republicans stripped funding from a library in Bisbee because it hosted two drag story time events.
Guess what, @housegop — attacking drag queens and trans kids still won’t lower gas prices.
Trump’s HUD Secretary said Americans should get “equal rights, not extra rights.” We all know Trump and Turner think anti-discrimination laws give LGBTQ+ people “extra rights.” That’s why the Trump Administration wants to eliminate HOPWA, which provides #housing for people with HIV and AIDS.
HOPWA has had bipartisan support for 30 years, and it’s not going to stop now.
#homeless #discrimination
Jason Collins was a gamechanger. As the first openly-gay man to play in the NBA, he was an important representative for our community—especially to young LGBTQI+ athletes.
Our hearts are with Jason's family, friends, and fans in mourning his passing.
🚨BAD RIDERS ALERT🚨
Republicans on the Appropriations Committee are beginning markup of their FY27 Commerce, Justice, and Science Appropriations bill—and they’ve included FIVE anti-LGBTQI+ riders.
Here’s what you need to know:
Section 557 prohibits the DOJ from investigating or suing to enforce LGBTQI+ students’ rights under Title IX.
Sections 565 & 581 prohibit funds for being used for medically-necessary healthcare, including mental healthcare, for transgender people.
Section 568 prohibits the DOJ from suing to enforce trans peoples’ rights when a state or local government has violated them.
Section 569 would create a license for federal employees & organizations that receive federal funds to discriminate against LGBTQI+ people by restricting the government’s ability to enforce existing nondiscrimination laws and policies.
The cost of living is skyrocketing and draining Americans' pockets dry, but Republicans refuse to do anything about it—they're too busy attacking the trans community & undermining LGBTQI+ rights.
Americans deserve better.
A class action lawsuit has been filed to prevent Trump's DOJ from accessing young trans peoples' medical records via administrative subpoenas.
No parent should have to worry about their kid's private medical records being handed over to DOJ.
