There are no established protocols for postpartum physical therapy rehabilitation, and that needs to change. I'm co-sponsoring H.R. 4074 because our mothers deserve better.

A century of underfunding and financial neglect from state and federal governments have left the vast majority of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) with aging laboratories, deteriorating dormitories, outdated equipment, and crumbling infrastructure. This bipartisan legislation, H.R. 8791, would authorize federal investments to rebuild and modernize aging campus infrastructure at HBCUs across the United States. On May 14th, 2026, I introduced this bill alongside Representative French Hill, Senator Tim Scott, and Senator Chris Coons.

HBCU Caucus Co-Chair Rep. Adams and I have been working for years on our bipartisan IGNITE HBCU Excellence Act. We are fighting to strengthen HBCUs. This legislation would direct the Department of Education to award competitive grants to HBCUs, ensuring that all students prosper. More grants = more opportunities. Women deserve healthcare, and abortion care is healthcare. This lower court decision cannot stand.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to the dedicated educators of North Carolina's 12th District! I taught for 40 years in North Carolina, so I know better than most the hard work and time you put in for your students every day. Your service to our community is invaluable and must be recognized. Thank you, for what you do.

Requiring proof of intent to discriminate in states with documented histories of racial voter suppression is not 'legal interpretation.' It is judicial activism and willful blindness.

Congressional oversight exists to serve the public good, not to strong arm universities and police students' political opinions.

April is National Minority Health Month, a reminder that your zip code, your skin color, and your income should never determine the quality of your healthcare. As the month ends, let's learn and let’s show up for our communities.

This Farm Bill hurts farmers and consumers. It fails to address the current problems facing our farms. SNAP cuts affect hungry people in North Carolina's 12th District and the businesses they buy from. I've been talking with farmers and families across my district and what I am hearing is uncertainty. Food assistance is getting cut for those who need it. Costs of fertilizer, equipment, fuel, and labor are rising, tariffs are swinging up and down, crop prices are weak, and farms are going under. This Farm Bill is just about Punishing Poor People. Call your member of Congress and let them know it's a BAD BILL.

Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12) is proud to present the grand opening of the 2026 12th District Congressional Art Competition Exhibition, celebrating the creativity, talent, and artistic vision of the next generation of artists from North Carolina’s 12th Congressional District. This year’s nationwide theme honors the 250th anniversary of the United States, inviting students to reflect on this historic milestone through visual art. A special exhibition will be held on May 17 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Mint Museum Uptown. The event is free and open to the public, recognizing finalists and celebrating the work of participating student artists. The exhibition will remain on view in the Mint Museum’s Uptown Culbertson Family Learning Center from May 17 through June 7. The first-place winner will have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year and will be invited, along with a guardian, to Washington, D.C. to participate in the official installation ceremony.
