The borderline between life and death
Brooch
silver 925, iron
Using the contrasting material qualities of silver and iron, the artist
interprets the relationship between materials from a personal
perspective, as well as the impressions and implications they convey.
The forms of the works are composed through a combination of organic natural elements and inorganic, man-made geometric structures.
The orchid motif carved in silver represents the artist‘s pure, immaculate, and timeless spiritual realm, while the rusted iron components symbolize the passage of time and the impermanence of life within the material world.
Through the visual dissonance between order and nature, the works explore the tension and coexistence between ideal and reality, body and spirit, as human beings navigate the overlapping identities of their natural existence and social roles.

The formation of a pearl originates from a natural defensive mechanism.
When a foreign body or injury enters the soft tissue inside a shell, the mollusk continuously secretes nacre, layering and depositing it around the source of harm. Over time, this process crystallizes into a pearl with a gentle, subdued luster.
To me, this instinctive act of biological self-protection bears a certain resemblance to the defensive mechanisms that arise in the human mind when it is confronted with psychological or emotional trauma.
In order to maintain mental stability, the brain wraps, isolates, and transforms pain that is difficult to process through repetition, fixation, avoidance, or the construction of order, reshaping it into a form that can be endured.
