THE MMA HARBOR MONITORING PROJECT The harbor monitoring buoy is back in action and was relaunched yesterday by the MMA’s Marine Science team. The Buoy Harbor Monitoring project collects real-time water data like temperature, pH, oxygen, and nutrients. The buoy was originally launched in 2024 in Nantucket Harbor. It continuously transmits environmental data (about every 15 minutes). The goal is tracking harbor health and long-term changes (also referred to as the “Mitchell Curve”) The MMA would like to extend gratitude to Great Harbor Yacht Club Foundation and The Remain Fund for the Community Foundation for Nantucket for their vital support of this project.

Nantucket employers: we want to hear from you! If you provide housing for your team, your input is critical to shaping real, workable solutions for our island’s workforce and year-round community. This short survey (10–15 minutes) will help better understand what’s working, where the challenges are and how we move forward together. Responses will be aggregated, shared, and used to inform future planning, partnerships and strategies that support both local businesses and the people who keep them running. 👉 Visit the link in our bio to take the survey. #RemainNantucket #NantucketHousing #ItTakesAnIsland

Remain is excited to introduce our Virtual Garden Tours—a digital series created with island partners to showcase the beauty and impact of native landscapes on Nantucket. Each garden features a virtual tour, a downloadable plant guide, and a dedicated YouTube video that introduces and expands upon the space, offering a closer look at how these landscapes support pollinators, strengthen ecosystems, and thrive with less water and maintenance. Native gardens aren’t just beautiful, they’re resilient, intentional and deeply connected to place. Follow along as we roll out three incredible gardens in the days ahead. Small steps, lasting impact...🌱
