A bold expression of tension and balance, designed by Álvaro Siza Vieira, the Portuguese National Pavilion showcases the power of imaginative engineering. 💙 Located on the banks of the Tagus River in Lisbon, the venue was originally constructed for the 1998 World Exposition. The monumental structure is a testament to Modernist architecture, emphasizing the use of geometric shapes, a celebration of industrial processes, and revealing structural elements as primary architectural features. Perhaps the most significant feature is the vast, undulating canopy that forms the roof of the public plaza. Formulated in collaboration with designer Cecil Balmond, its structural ingenuity is revered today as one of the most impressive feats of engineering. 📷️ photos by @giovanninnardi ______________________ #AlvaroSiza #PortugueseNationalPavilion #Architecture #ModernArchitecture #StructuralDesign #EngineeringMarvel #ConcreteArchitecture #Minimalism #LisbonArchitecture #Expo98 #ArchitecturalDesign #UrbanDesign #ContemporaryArchitecture

Today’s #MondayMaker spotlights the elusive and cinematic world of Caroline Kent and her recent exhibition, A Light Left on in the Hallway, at Casey Kaplan. Kent’s layered abstractions explore memory, repetition, and transition through shifting fields of color, texture, and light. Drawing from the tonal language of mid-century cinema, her paintings compress and expand space at once—creating compositions that feel both deeply intimate and architecturally vast. Like a dimly lit corridor between familiar rooms, the works exist at the threshold of perception, where recognition and ambiguity quietly converge. “I allow my work to move past conventional boundaries, reaching beyond the confines of the canvas and connecting with other subjects, such as film, writing, and theatre. Painting is not a means to an end but a beginning.” — Caroline Kent 📷️ @carolinekent1 All Images courtesy @caseykaplangallery , New York and the artist 1/ A game they would play across years (2026) 2/ The circumference of desire and the perimeter of a house (2026) 3/ A Light Left on in the Hallway (2026) _________________________ #MondayMaker #CarolineKent #ContemporaryArt #AbstractPainting #CaseyKaplan #PaintingToday #ContemporaryPainting #ArtExhibition #AbstractArt #WomenArtists #EmergingArtists #ArtCollector #ArtGallery #NewYorkArt #VisualArt #ArtOfInstagram #ArtistSpotlight #ModernArt #ConceptualArt #ContemporaryArtists

📣 ANNOUNCEMENT 📣 We are delighted to be working with French artist @jeanmarcbustamante who is pleased to announce that his foundation, @fondsbustamante , located in the heart of Arles, will open on 9 July with a bold inaugural exhibition, “Bustamante en Miroirs.” This landmark debut will coincide with the most vibrant moment in the city’s cultural calendar: the opening week of the Rencontres d’Arles. Founded by Jean-Marc Bustamante, this independent space is dedicated to contemporary creation in all its forms, as well as to transmission, research, and dialogue between works and artists. Housed in the newly renovated 12th-century Église Sainte-Croix, the Fonds Bustamante will become a dynamic, independent cultural hub that reflects its founder’s singular vision. The renovation has been entrusted to architect and designer @charles_zana whose approach is deeply connected to Arles’ heritage. The project’s aesthetic and architectural framework has been shaped by the city’s history, its infamous light, and its position at the crossroads between cultures. 📷️ Jean-Marc Bustamante Portrait I photo @victor.picon 3/ Façade render Fonds Bustamante I Courtesy of Charles Zana _____________________ #JeanMarcBustamante #FondsBustamante #Arles #RencontresdArles #ContemporaryArt #ArtFoundation #ArtSpace #CulturalHub #ArtInArles #SouthOfFrance #ArtAndArchitecture #CharlesZana #ArtOpening #ExhibitionOpening #ArtWorld #ArtistFoundation #ModernArt #ArtCollectors #ArtScene #CreativeSpaces #CulturalDestination

Today’s #MondayMaker: Rosana Escobar is a Colombian artist and designer whose work with plant-based fibers takes shape through sculpture, wearable forms, and collaborative experiences. Her practice is grounded in rigorous research, skilled craft, and deep material exploration. 🌀❣️ She begins by studying the fiber’s natural properties—its texture, cycles, and connection to place—while tracing how it has been shaped by agricultural, industrial, and cultural systems. Her process is driven by conversations with growers and makers, fieldwork, and hands-on experimentation in the studio, allowing her to work in direct dialogue with the material—understanding not only how it behaves, but what it can become. “I wanted to give a voice to this material, to produce new products that could give new narratives and make us connect with the fibre differently.” — Rosana Escobar Escobar works with the fiber as a versatile collaborator, letting its qualities shape and at times redirect the process. She combines traditional craft techniques with adapted industrial systems, adjusting them to suit what each material requires. This reciprocity allows the material to influence the outcome, opening pathways to new or overlooked possibilities. 📷️ Rosana Escobar by @milijamilu I Dirección: @fidel_arias I All work courtesy of @studiorosanaescobar 1/ Photo by Iris Rijskamp (2021) 2/ Braided I @aleor_design I Photo Zoé D’amamo 3/ Paramo (2025)I Photo @elinewillaert I @aleor_design 4/ Unravelling the Coffee Bag : A stool and bench are made from the yarns as a way of recycling the coffee bags _________________________________ #MondayMaker #RosanaEscobar #MaterialDrivenDesign #TextileArt #FiberArt #SustainableDesign #Craftsmanship #MaterialResearch #DesignProcess #Biodesign #SlowDesign #ContemporaryCraft #WearableArt #SculpturalDesign #DesignThinking #NaturalMaterials #ArtAndDesign #CreativeProcess #CircularDesign #MaterialInnovation
