“It would be a great idea to have a voice of the future generation on the board” - Aurvi from @future__council 👏
The Future Council met with Steven Van Rijswijk, CEO of the ING Group, to share their ideas and ask the hard hitting questions about what ING is doing to ensure a safe and better future.
💬 If you could meet with a CEO tomorrow, what company would you choose and what question would you ask them?
What began as an ancient art is now a quiet act of hope. Bonsai artists are cultivating endangered native trees, preserving their genetics in miniature form. These tiny trees are more than living sculptures - they’re long-term guardians of species at risk, with some bonsai living over 500 years.
As bonsai expert David Easterbrook says, “Bonsai preserves genetics. Every tree has an ecological memory in miniature.”
Through care and connection, these artists are raising awareness, one small tree at a time. In a warming world, the smallest roots may one day help restore entire ecosystems.
Nature’s resilience, shaped by patience. 🌳

Beneath Norway’s Arctic ice, the Svalbard Global Seed Vault can safeguard up to 1.5 million seed samples in a critical backup for global food security.
Although only authorised personnel have access to the seed vault, did you know that you can do a virtual tour of the facility? Step (virtually) into one of the most important rooms in the world... seedvaultvirtualtour.com
🌱 Everyone can play a part in protecting food security. You can start by saving seeds at home and from your garden particularly if you have heirloom seeds. You can also connect with your local seed library to swap or borrow, which helps preserve local biodiversity!
Beyond Venice’s canals lies a quiet climate hero: sea lavender. 🌿
This unassuming purple plant stores 12 times more biomass underground than above, locking away carbon, stabilising soil, and shielding coasts from rising seas. Its roots build ecosystems, trap sediment, and support biodiversity - all while helping coastal communities adapt to a changing climate.
As researchers from the University of Padova found, salt marshes like this aren’t just nature reserves - they’re powerful, self-sustaining climate solutions.
“Salt marshes are not only sites of carbon sequestration,” says scientist Tegan Blount,
“their conservation protects vital ecosystem services, from local to global scales.”
From Europe to Asia to North America, restoring these wetlands could be one of nature’s smartest comebacks. 🌍

Watch how wealth flows in the traditional economic model - starting at the top and trickling down, but often leaving most behind.
Damon reveals how the richest keep getting richer while political power and corporate influence shape the rules, often removing environmental protections and ignoring the real people and planet impacted.
🌍 This pyramid shows why we need to rethink economic models that leave so much out.
This clip was filmed around the same time as the documentary, 2040.

Around 70% of English is made up of nouns.
In many Indigenous languages, that number is much lower.
That might sound small, but it shapes how we see the world.
Because when most of our language is nouns, we start to see reality as a collection of separate “things” fixed, defined, and independent.
But that’s not actually how the world works.
Most of what we call “things” aren’t really things at all.
They’re ongoing processes.
Living interactions.
Just like a tree.
It’s not just an object sitting there.
It’s constantly exchanging energy with the sun, gases with the air, nutrients through underground fungal networks.
It’s doing trillions of processes every second.
What we call a “tree” is really a living system in motion.
Not a noun, but a process. A verb. A whole lot of verbs.
So when a child points at one and asks, “what is that?”
and we simply say, “that’s a tree”
we might be unintentionally teaching them to mistake the label for reality.
To see categories instead of uniqueness.
To see separation where there is actually connection.
So next time you notice a tree or show one to a kid
take a moment to go a little closer.
And definitely listen to this full podcast too, linked in our resource hub in bio.

This is for all the Youth out there. Know that there are people out there who care about our Voices.
Hello Everyone, It’s Spencer!
There is nothing I love more than speaking up for my Generation & beyond so that our dreams for our Future become reality.
