📌 Credit: @_thechoiceflame / Vatican News “Today, both science and religion face a different and perhaps more insidious threat — those who deny the very existence of objective truth. Too many in our world refuse to acknowledge what both science and the Church plainly teach — that we bear a solemn responsibility for the stewardship of our planet and for the welfare of those who dwell upon it, especially the most vulnerable, whose lives are imperiled by the reckless exploitation of both people and the natural world. This is precisely why the Church’s embrace of rigorous, honest science remains not merely valuable, but essential.” — Pope Leo XIV Vatican Observatory Foundation, May 11, 2026 💔 Pope Leo XIV is defending science, truth, the stewardship of our planet, and the welfare of its most vulnerable people. 📌 Credit: @msnbc | The Best People with Nicolle Wallace featuring @sherrilynifill 🔴 “If you take a speech that Trump gives… and you print that description of what he said, and you turn it into something coherent when it was obviously incoherent — you are not neutral. You are actually doing the work for him.” — Sherrilyn Ifill Sherrilyn Ifill — former head of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and Howard University law professor — cuts through the media’s comfort zone on “neutrality.” ✅ Ifill documented the record: Trump called for execution of the Central Park Five, who were later exonerated, and never retracted. He led the birther movement. He claimed a Mexican-American federal judge couldn’t rule fairly “because we’re building a wall.” He has openly associated with Proud Boys and white supremacist groups. He recently stated the Civil Rights Act harmed America. ✅ When news organizations “clean up” incoherent Trump statements, they are editing out the evidence. That is not neutrality. That is editorial protection. 💔 “There is such a thing as racism. And it is in law — identified and proven by objective facts.” — Sherrilyn Ifill Share this. Rights generations fought for — fought for in blood — are being ripped away in real time. The MAGA stacked Supreme Court ushered racist gerrymandering and the theft of Black political power, while Trump and regime push even further toward open f@scist rule. What will we accept? Who will we become? Time to get loud, sound the alarm, demand: TRUMP MUST GO NOW! Millions agree but agreement must become action, together, in numbers that can create a political earthquake from below. Want to be part of our Banner Brigade? DM us! Want to get deeper into the challenges we face? Listen to the @refusefascism podcast 👇 Commentary from Sam Goldman on the latest episode of the Podcast uploaded Sunday 5/3. 📌 Credit: @motherjonesmag | Video: Garrison Hayes 🔥 May 7, 2026. Tennessee State Capitol. Rep. Justin Jones (D-Nashville) walks out of the House chamber and burns a paper Confederate flag in the hallway — surrounded by protesters, troopers, and cameras. The smell of burned Confederate flag lingered in the halls of the Capitol as the Republican supermajority passed a historic, unprecedented redistricting map — reopening wounds from racially motivated voter suppression across the South. The flag had the words “We will not go back” written along its edge. Jones told The Tennessean afterward: “They’re taking us backwards to this type of environment where Black folks are not treated with equal representation, where we’re pre-1965.” The new map cracks Memphis into three pieces and joins each to white suburbs — turning every congressional district in the state into a Republican seat and erasing the only majority-Black district. Sen. London Lamar said from the floor: “This is how democracy dies in our face. It’s not always with violence in the street.” Read more at MotherJones.com. Follow @motherjonesmag . 💔 Share this. 📌 Remixed from and Credit to: @mprnews South Minneapolis gathered. They grieved. They celebrated. They refused to be broken. “Thousands of people gathered in south Minneapolis for the Mayday parade, ceremony and festival on Sunday, May 3. The annual spring celebration was marked by themes of resilience, grief and anti-ICE sentiments. The hillside of Powderhorn Park was packed with crowds to watch the Tree of Life Ceremony. The performance is a central part of the annual event and is put on by hundreds of volunteers who create large puppets. Each year’s performance invites the community to celebrate joy and resilience. This year’s show depicted a family being separated by federal agents and highlighted the different ways community members came together throughout the recent immigration enforcement operation. South Minneapolis is where federal agents fatally shot Renee Good and Alex Pretti in January.” Video by Anne Guttridge and @benjovland . Video edited by Anne Guttridge. ✅ Sofia Padilla, Tree of Life Ceremony co-director, described a performance depicting a family’s morning interrupted by federal agents — neighbors helping, houses shaking — a metaphor for what the whole community felt, regardless of status. ✅ The ceremony named neighbors who went missing and all those lost to gun violence and state violence — Renee and Alex among them. 💔 The griever puppet — wrapped in streamers representing tears — was swallowed by a larger puppet, from which a butterfly emerged. We have to process our grief and we have to hold on to love and joy and hold on to resisting. I hope people have space to process what we went through, to think about the loved ones that we lost, our neighbors that we lost. And I hope people can cry and laugh and walk away with healing in their hearts. Healing and a call for action.” — Sofia Padilla, Tree of Life Ceremony co-director This content is shared under 17 U.S.C. § 107 for purposes of response, reaction, news reporting, and public interest commentary. 📌 Remix Credit: @aaronparnas Trump’s judicial nominee couldn’t answer whether the Constitution bars a third Trump term. That’s not a hard question. It’s the 22nd Amendment. “Anybody willing to apply the Constitution by its plain language in the 22nd Amendment? Nobody. All right, let’s move on.” — Sen. Chris Coons, Senate Judiciary Committee, April 29, 2026 ✅ Sen. Coons asked nominee John George Edward Marck — Trump’s pick for U.S. District Judge, Southern District of Texas — whether Trump is eligible to run in 2028. Marck said he’d need to “review” it and called it “more of a hypothetical.” ✅ Coons read the 22nd Amendment aloud: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.” Marck still would not answer. ✅ Three other Trump nominees at the same hearing also refused to confirm Trump cannot run for a third term. ✅ These are lifetime appointments to the federal bench. ⚠️ Not one nominee was willing to apply the plain language of the Constitution. This should disqualify every one of them. Share this. Trump is a danger to the future of humanity. Shredding basic rights and the rule of law here and and the world. Threatening to destroy a whole civilization, hunting down immigrants, accelerating climate disaster, wrecking the planet. We can’t wait for elections that are half a year away, that are being rigged, and won’t be respected by this fascist in the WH anyway if he loses. There IS a way, not easy, not safe. Massive nonviolent sustained disruptive protests with laser focus on one demand: Trump Must Go Now! If you want to contribute to that, register for our onboarding zoom this Monday, May 4, 7 pm. 📌 Remix Credit: @throwblacktv starring Tracie Ellis Ross, Dick Cavett, Jimmy Kimmel The Voting Rights Act ended Jim Crow. And they’ve been quietly dismantling it ever since. Black-ish aired this episode on ABC on October 4, 2020. Tracee Ellis Ross IS the Voting Rights Act — inserted into real talk show footage across decades. She’s vibrant and full of promise on the Dick Cavett Show in 1968. Thirty years later in 1995, still fighting on Ricki Lake. By Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2020, she’s drinking wine and telling us a Supreme Court decision “gutted me.” That arc is the whole story. (We need a new segment now) Here’s the real timeline: 📍 2013 — Shelby v. Holder kills Section 5’s enforcement mechanism. Within hours, Texas announced its voter ID law would take effect immediately. 📍 2015–2018 — Over 1,600 polling places close in formerly covered states. Communities of color absorb the brunt. 📍 2021 — Brnovich v. DNC makes it nearly impossible to challenge voter suppression laws in court. The backstop starts cracking. 📍 2023 — Allen v. Milligan orders Alabama to draw a second majority-Black district. A win — and a holding pattern. 📍 2024 — Alexander v. SC NAACP gives states cover to disguise racial gerrymandering as a partisan call instead of a racial one. 📍 2026 — Louisiana v. Callais, decided April 29, finishes the job. Section 2 is effectively dismantled. Justice Kagan in dissent: Section 2 is now “all but a dead letter.” They make up a crisis. Blame civil rights. Grab more power. But this is a setback, not the end. Fund voter protection orgs. Back leaders who commit to real reform. Show up. Share this. Remix from @david.heath.writer 📌 Credit: @deadlinewhitehouse “Racism still occupies the throne of this country.” — Dr. Eddie Glaude Jr., Princeton University Dr. Eddie Glaude Jr. is DONE being polite about it. And so are we. ✅ The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was the first time Black Americans were fully guaranteed the right to vote — 189 years after the founding ✅ The Civil War left 600,000+ dead. We got Reconstruction. Then the courts took it back. ✅ Slaughterhouse Cases gutted the 14th Amendment before the ink was dry ✅ Mobile v. Bolden (1980) weakened the VRA. Reagan gets elected. ✅ Roberts began his career in the Reagan DOJ during the Mobile v. Bolden era. In 2013 he wrote the Shelby County v. Holder majority opinion gutting VRA preclearance. Now he’s done it again. 💔 “We’ve only been a democracy since 1965. Barely.” 💔 “They play fast and loose with our debt. With our sacrifices. They think they own us.” They do not own us. Share this.
