As part of activities marking the closing ceremony of the 2025/2026 academic session of the Enugu Catholic Mission Schools, awards and medals were presented to outstanding students who excelled in the English Language, Mathematics, and Moral Instruction competitions.
During the event, each participating school also announced its highest score in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). At the end of the presentation, College of the Immaculate Conception (CIC), Uwani emerged winner of the prestigious “Bishop Onaga JAMB Awards,” following an exceptional performance by one of its students who scored 350 in the examination.

28 New Swiss Guards Swear Oath of Allegiance at the Vatican
Twenty-eight new recruits of the Pontifical Swiss Guard officially took their oath of allegiance at the Vatican in a solemn ceremony attended by Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter and Church officials.
Pope Leo XIV warmly greeted the Swiss President and expressed his “esteem and gratitude” to the newly sworn-in Guards for their commitment and service to the Church.
Reflecting on the significance of the oath, the Holy Father said the promise made by the young recruits is a sign of fidelity rooted in youthful enthusiasm, deep faith in God, and love for the Church.
The Pontifical Swiss Guard, founded in 1506, remains one of the oldest military corps in the world and is responsible for the protection of the Pope and the Vatican.
