It was an evening of honoring our past and envisioning our future. We laughed, we cried, and we danced the night away, literally. When God gave me the theme Begin Again, I had no idea the power and freedom it would hold. PPI is not the same organization it was 15 years ago, and I am not the same leader I was at 25. But some things remain fundamentally true: our commitment to excellence, community, and purpose. Our beloved organization has been blessed with people who are dedicated to the rich vision and mission that have impacted thousands across the nation. What once started as a dream has matured into a vision that has employed hundreds of people of color across the Chicagoland area, served over 3,000 youth, and graced some of the largest stages before more than 10,000 audience members. One dream continues to impact thousands. BEGIN AGAIN. DREAM AGAIN. SEE IT AGAIN. If God showed it to you, it is because He is going to give it to you. Praize Productions, Inc. is evidence of that. I’m beyond proud and grateful to be among 8 Leaders for a New Chicago recognized by @fieldfoundation and @macfound ! I’m honored to represent the work of @praizeproductions This initiative recognizes leaders from outside the city’s traditional power structure with the aim of bringing new voices, creativity, and innovation into the systems that shape Chicago. Each of the eight 2025 awardees will receive a $50,000 no-strings-attached prize, and their affiliated organizations will receive an additional $25,000 general operating grant. Honorees are exceptional leaders, who are bringing transformative change to their communities—from the ground up, while redefining civic leadership and reimagining our city's future. 📣 Now allow me to brag on my God real quick 📣 I have been nominated for this award twice and didn’t receive it. However, I continued the needed work for my City and community. This year, I am honored to receive this prestigious recognition. To My Family, You tend to receive the least from me but love and understand me the most. 🙏🏾💜✨ The only thing better than celebrating 15 years with @praizeproductions was having each of you by side every step of the way while doing it. You don’t need grand gestures from me; you understand me without words. After every production, we meet at @carshaed house for food and drank (and a few cigars). It’s tradition because after pouring out so much, you all are the ones to fill my cup back up first. You ground me. Humble me. Hold me accountable. But most of all, you love and accept me without conditions. You love me beyond the stage and in all my stages. You’ve seen me most vulnerable and shielded my fractures from the world.
