Artists (Photographed left to right) Reisha, Gretchen, and Martha worked with vivid colors and layered imagery to strike conversation around symbols we find at the foundation of the nation and how these artists reinterpret them beyond art to be hung on walls as decoration.
Collectively they call the works of this exhibition, "visual footnotes reframed for today's discourse."

The RCHvl Community Zine Archive, curated yearly by SUBlvl, is back for its 4th season, and we’re excited to share the work our newest cohort of artists has produced around the theme “Federal Blue.”
Federal Blue is a risograph color that is a deep navy blue that in multi-color prints, can be used to replace the color black; and in mono-color prints is used to paint broad strokes.
We see the use of Federal Blue as a vehicle to interrogate how blackness in media has been replicated in expedition, using advanced technologies to extract the aesthetics of blackness that drive pop culture. The Artists will showcase their interpretation of the theme through risogrpahy printed zines.

We'll be transforming the gallery into a world of play with games, installations, interactive art stations, and of course art from some very special Chicago artists :)
