What’s the importance of Salmon to the Salmon River? Mark Martin has been living this question (and answers) for many years. He’s landed on a beautiful way to share this info with anyone and we’re so delighted that he’ll be sharing his Salmon Gospel with us all at Rendezvous. If you work in the Salmon River watershed, you’re not going to want to miss this. Mark is a native Mainer, a fly angler of thirty years, and an Idaho guide since 2008. His degree in fisheries management, and firsthand witnessing of the crash of the Atlantic salmon in Maine, led naturally to a tendency to rant about Idaho’s salmon and steelhead to anyone who will listen.
His yearly migration cycle includes the Middle Fork of the Salmon, the Clearwater, ski guiding the Salmon River Mountains, the steelhead rivers of Oregon, and never, ever, ever enough time to tie all the flies he wants or grow that dumb garden…maybe next year. Tickets are still available for Rendezvous and do t forget to sign up for the Dutch Oven Cook Off on Friday. It’s free to sign up and you don’t need to be a Rendezvous ticket holder.
