🚨 ELEVEN RED REBELS MOVE THROUGH WHITE CITY WARNING OF INFINITE GROWTH ON A FINITE PLANET 🚨
Eleven Red Rebels walked through White City towards the shopping centre in slow, silent formation, with other rebels carrying banners reading “No Shopping on a Dead Planet” and “A Better World Is Possible”.
Westfields were quick to try and silence the message, meeting the peaceful protest with security officers who surrounded the group and intercepted their entrance to the shopping centre by shutting all the doors for over an hour.
The Red Rebels’ intention was simple: to invite shoppers to pause and reflect on what gifts we want to pass on to the next generation.
One participant said:
“We came to offer a message of care, not confrontation. Another way of living might be possible for us all.”
This action forms part of XRUK’s winter creative work reflecting on what has been lost, what is broken, and what might still be rebuilt. As the year draws to a close, a time traditionally associated with generosity, reflection, and spending time with our loved ones, XRUK is calling on people to recognise that leaving a habitable world would be the most meaningful gift of all.

Northumberland Street fell silent today as 350 ordinary men, women and children marched in a funeral procession to honour the hundreds of thousands of innocent people who have been killed over the last two year.
The protest was led down the busy high street by the @redrebels_ne of @extinctionrebellion .
Shoppers stopped to watch, some clapped quietly, many people cried, almost all fell silent.
We have all seen the horror on our phones. At some point, some image of imaginable suffering has been burned on to our eyeballs and stays in the corner of our minds, forever.
Huge banners honoured the dead children and the 254 journalist killed. The March went past both @newcastleuni and @northumbriauni where students called for the universities to divest from the war machines that have spilled this blood. Genocide and war should not fund education.
It was a powerful and peaceful protest.
The ceasefire is fragile. Israel's track record of breaking ceasefires does not inspire much hope.
All eyes on Palestine. The people of Gaza and the West Bank are not free from murder, theft, apartheid and persecution. Not by any stretch. Until Palestine is free. #freepalestine🇵🇸
