This Sunday, the @policrit will hold its final race on the infamous Red Hook Criterium Milano circuit in Bovisa. In 2026 a tram line will be built through the campus of the Politecnico di Milano closing the chapter on this incredible racing venue.
I’m proud of the team at the @Policrit for filling the void left behind by the RHC. I’ll be there on Sunday to support and wave the checkered flag. It’s going to be emotional.
All RHC fans who can make it should be there either to watch or compete. Race registration closes tomorrow. The event is free for spectators.

The Red Hook Criterium may be gone but the legacy lives on with Zuricrit.
An all star selection of Red Hook heroes are back chasing more glory at what has succeeded the RHC as the world’s top fixed gear criterium.
As Tim Ceresa proved last year against Stefan Bissegger, it's high level fixed gear criterium experience that counts and even the Tour de France can’t recreate the intensity of those past races.

On Saturday, August 1st there will be an international ride in memory of Michael Stromberg. The goal is to have the cycling community around the world riding at the exact same moment. Scroll through for the list of the many cities around the world that are participating. There is a link in bio with the confirmed start location from each city.
We are organizing the New York edition which will meet at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal (@9 :30am) and then head to Prospect Park for a few laps. The ride will be at an easy conversational pace. Masks and social distancing etiquette required.
Thank you to @nvayrk and @lord_euan_cattermoley for sparking the organization of these rides in memory of their teammate who sadly lost his battle with mental illness. Black Lives Matter
Cycling must strive towards diversity and equality. If not it will remain a niche sport only for those who happen to be included. At the RHC, our proudest accomplishment was the community that flourished from the coming together of divergent backgrounds, cultures, nationalities, and ethnicities. Since Prentiss Campbell finished 5th at the inaugural RHC to Justin William’s near victory at Brooklyn No.11 the Black cycling community had been an integral part of the crit.
At the RHC we tried to foster an inclusive environment but even here racism was sadly present and could be heard bubbling to the surface with shouts between competitors. The equality and diversity we cherished was only the beginning of what it should have been. We are proud of all the RHC alumni who are speaking out and fighting to improve the culture of cycling. We also hope to again have the opportunity to help push cycling in a direction that is more open, accessible, and interesting for far more Black athletes, staff, volunteers, sponsors and spectators to be involved. We still believe that fixed gear racing offers an opportunity to expand the accessibility and equality in cycling.
The painful question remains how can there be equality in cycling when society is infected with systematic racism, police brutality, and crippling social injustice? An entire race in the United States is treated like second class citizens and has been held down indefinitely. We all must recognize this and join the fight for a better society. Improving cycling culture is important but the bigger picture of breaking this endless systematic racism is life or death for the Black community.
The United States was sadly built on racism and the current administration uses hate to energize the many racists to continue acting against humanity. The only way to go from here is forward and our culture must improve. Educate yourself, donate, protest, vote, and don’t give up until the world is in a better place.
