This past Saturday, the sonic architects of Red Echoes launched the evening at Kick Butt Coffee with a formidable wave of instrumental post-rock. Since 2021, this Austin/San Marcos project has been weaving a complex tapestry of sound, drawing equally from the epic crescendos of Russian Circles and Caspian and the textured, moody palettes of The Cure and Deftones. Their set, delivered with the tight-knit precision of seasoned pros, moved from ethereal soundscapes to crushing, metal-adjacent riffs in D Standard and Drop C. It was the perfect immersive, powerful start to the night, proving once again that a live show at Kick Butt Coffee just hits different.
