Thats right, we’re bringing back Throwback Thursdays. Looking at our archive of work we still really love this logo we made for Charm School Vintage many moons ago - and we especially love when we get to see logos go from the computer screen to tangible, real-life applications. Chain stitched embroidery and banner by Ft. Lonesome.

We love the challenge of a brand refresh and were so thrilled when Fiona of @sassy.miss.waxy asked us to take this stunning original illustration by @corinneloperfido and give it a little update! New flowers, the addition of her beloved kitty, fresh typography and colors allowed the original spirit of the logo to remain, just with a little newness and razzle dazzle. 🎀✨

Our multifaceted designer, Chris, knows how to expertly meld color, texture, typography and hierarchy in a way that shows true care and a refined eye. They leverage their long-lapsed poetry degree to bring creative communication to their work and always have at least two playlists in progress. When they’re not solving design challenges and puzzles, Chris can be found taking long walks in the woods and telling people about all the cool birds they see.

Along with the updated branding for Unlisted Projects, we created a variety of sub-brands. CopenhAustin is an international exchange program that sends one queer performance artist or organizer from Texas to Denmark and one from Denmark to Austin. HandsOn is an American Sign Language supported, national residency program that connects deaf and hearing artists. It pairs one deaf artist with one hearing artist to create an artistic collaboration. You can learn more about these programs and more at unlistedprojects.org.

We know we’re well into the new year, and hope that yours is going great so far. Looking back at 2025, one of our favorite projects had to be this updated branding for @unlistedprojects ... we just love taking a strong existing brand and giving it some oomph. Unlisted Projects already had killer typography and branding elements, which we expanded upon with an expansive color palette and branding system to represent the varied, stunning work that comes out of their residency programs. Check out them out unlistedprojects.org (website also made by us, naturally 💅).

Our beloved nerd who loves punk – Leroy is the guy behind the scenes doing all of the coding that no one understands, but everyone needs. It’s a super-power being able to create something for the web – so it’s no wonder he always has 24 different solutions to every complex development problem, but knows how to pick the perfect one for each project. When he’s not behind the computer, he’s shaking up a killer tiki cocktail, watching classic horror, and as he puts it: going ‘full dad-mode’ in his new hybrid minivan.

We were also thrilled to make a limited edition shirt for @nmassfest 2025, printed by the fine folks at @fsgprints . Pick up yours at the various events happening for the festival - check out the line up and details (and buy your tickets) at nmassfest.org.

We were excited to be asked by @cotfg to create the branding, collateral and website for this year’s New Media Art and Sound Summit (@nmassfest ), a multi-day summer festival dedicated to diversifying Austin’s musical ecosystem. It’s coming up soon on September 26th, 27th, and 28th and you can buy tickets now and learn more about the event at nmassfest.org.

We’re excited to introduce the Recspec team to you... next up is our Project Manager Jana. Swiftie first, project manager second – Jana is the one who lays the foundation for our projects while making sure we stay the course. When they aren’t in Asana, they’re coordinating with Laurel, checking in on the team, and searching for the perfect sandwich. They have an uncanny ability to be very meticulous and hardworking, while still maintaining a good vibe.

One of our favorite parts of the recent @avowtexas brand refresh are these fun collage elements we created for blog posts and other featured images throughout their site. You can check them out now at avowtexas.org - and be sure to give us a holler at recspec.co if you’d like to see the different ways we can give your brand a new look and feel. 🤠

We love a brand refresh—and so do our clients. @avowtexas got more than a just fresh coat of paint recently. We updated their website with a bold expanded color palette, new typec treatments for eye-catching headlines and calls-to-action, and high energy, engaging new graphic styles. The whole package brings their vital work front and center, and impossible to ignore. Check it out now at avowtexas.org. Ready to refresh your brand? We’d love to help - just drop us a line at the link in our bio and we’ll make magic happen. ✨

We’re excited to introduce the Recspec team to you... starting off with our Founder and Creative Director Laurel know by her friends as Lau. Laurel founded Recspec in 2009 with the goal of serving her community in Austin and beyond by producing highly varied design for small businesses, brands, and nonprofits. Throughout the years she’s worn many hats but now primarily focuses on Creative Direction, while still working directly on projects and leading the team. When she isn’t busy applying great care and creativity to our clients, she can be found in her garden or playing backgammon.
