How to get to the summit of Mera peak 6476M?

Fueling for expeditions is not easy, especially when figuring out how to fuel on the go during long days pulling 150+ lb sleds on sea ice. @recpakco was my go-to for lunch or extra fuel while moving. Just add water, easy on the stomach and has so many vital nutrients that dehydrated foods just don’t provide.

🌲 It’s Small Business Sales Week at @garagegrowngear and we’re proud to be part of it. More than 90 small outdoor brands are offering special deals this week to celebrate the entrepreneurs who pour their hearts into building gear and products they truly believe in. At RecPak, we know firsthand what it means to be a small business. We started with one simple goal: to create the kind of nutrition we wished we had during long days in the mountains, on expeditions, and in the backcountry. Small businesses are the backbone of the outdoor industry. Link in bio to shop!

I started in Hot Springs and ended the next day at Uncle Johnny’s Nolichucky Hostel & Outfitter on the Nolichucky River 🌊🥾 Anyway, after I finished, I forded the river, which was fun and actually kind of easy using my poles for support. So now I have four completions of the Appalachian Trail. My 2019 attempt ended on Jennifer Pharr Davis’ hiking school front lawn, so that’s where I picked up yesterday. It was cool. I got to meet Big Cat at what was Jen’s hiking school, and she showed me around for when I come through again and where everything is 🙌 I saw a bear 🐻 It ran across the trail from my left to my right, and then I saw it hanging around a tree waiting for its cub to come down 🌲 Things that I learned during the run: * The waist belt is mandatory to offset the weight from the pack and go easy on my shoulders 🎒 * I need some kind of lubricant for my butt because it chafed a little bit 😂 * I might add some liquid calories because all the chewing got tiring 🥤 * I need a proper routine for going to sleep and waking up. I was a little bit unorganized 😅 All in all, mission successful 💪 The mice in the shelter didn’t bother me even though I could hear them running around all night 🐭 thank you too @zpacks @katesrealfood @recpakco @hoka Also, I’m running a fundraiser for the Kilham Bear Center, which takes in orphaned bear cubs 🐻❤️ #AppalachianTrail #TrailRunning #BearEncounter #Fastpacking #outdooradventure

@melanieinthemountains doesn’t leave the alpine without RecPak. We’ve been part of her mountain adventures for the past three years, watching her grow as an alpinist and take on steep couloirs in the Cascades. Follow along and ask her for more.

The bad really makes you appreciate the good. That's why we wanted to wrap up with the "bad" in our Nation's fight against climate change using a healthy dose of good in this week's episode of YWIB. We discuss a few things our Country is doing to try and roll back progress against fighting climate change, but then what fellow hikers and a few hiking brands are doing to keep on bringing the fight. You don't have to take a monumental step to make some solid change. Even picking up a single piece of trash can do a world of good, whether you know it or not. We wrap with a bit of Q&A about climate change. ***Listen wherever you get your podcasts or link in BIO. Stories for this episode were submitted by @vagrant_viking93 , @joyseward with @recpakco , @oatshikes with @sawyerproducts , @long_brown_path , and an anonymous hiker. Thanks for taking the time to share what YOU are doing to make the world and hiking community a better place!! #change #makeadifference #climatechange #steward #getoutside
