👀 If you're visiting downtown Guelph, look up!
On the rooftop of @10carden , a bold inflatable sculpture comes alive with the colourful patterns of Kurdish rugs—reimagined with a playful pop-art sensibility. For artist Roda Medhat ( @reallyroda ), these motifs are more than striking design; they are carriers of history and memory, preserving the stories and traditions of Kurdish communities across generations.
By bringing these patterns into the heart of downtown Guelph, Medhat transforms them into statements of the power of cultural identity, the importance of visibility, and the ways in which identities can be both pervasive and yet hidden within modern urban life.

‘Gates’ installed for @cafkabiennial at Catalyst 137 in Kitchener. Based on 3D scans I took at Kirkuk’s citadel in Kurdistan. Inside the metal frame is an inflatable that periodically inflates and deflates.
Thank you @canada.council for the generous funding to make this monumental project come to life. It was an incredible technical and physical feat to put this together and the Canada Council supported me through the pre-production, production and installation phases of this incredible culmination of effort. Thank you so much!!
