For artist Roda Medhat ( @reallyroda ), these motifs are more than striking design; they are carriers of history and memory, preserving the stories and traditions of Kurdish communities across generations. ‘Gates’ installed for @cafkabiennial at Catalyst 137 in Kitchener. Based on 3D scans I took at Kirkuk’s citadel in Kurdistan. Inside the metal frame is an inflatable that periodically inflates and deflates. Thank you @canada.council for the generous funding to make this monumental project come to life. It was an incredible technical and physical feat to put this together and the Canada Council supported me through the pre-production, production and installation phases of this incredible culmination of effort.
