There are some phenomenal women in this space working to support, nurture, nourish, protect and serve Black women. If you don’t know why Black Maternal Health Week exists, I urge you to look it up.
Scrolling through memories of the love and care I received during AND AFTER pregnancy is a river of emotions. Gratitude for every single element, every phone call, meal, mail, hug and space held for me. My birth story and pregnancy are incredibly sacred and I cherish the experience. But I know it is far too common that the experience is more dangerous and unsafe for Black women.
I hope this continues to change and I salute the women doing the work to change it. 👑
