With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS. He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, Rebecca, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world. Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight. He will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered always. Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he’s received. As his illness progressed far more quickly than anyone could have imagined, Eric’s friends have come together to create a GoFundMe, linked in his bio, to support his girls and their future needs. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help provide stability during this incredibly difficult time and in the future for Eric’s wonderful daughters.
We’re proud to share an important announcement: Eric Dane (@realericdane ) has joined the Target ALS Board of Directors, deepening his commitment to accelerating ALS research and driving meaningful change for the ALS community.
Diagnosed in 2024, Eric has become a powerful advocate for progress, lending his voice to our “Ending ALS Starts With You” campaign and even portraying a character living with ALS on NBC’s Brilliant Minds to raise awareness. His decision to join our Board reflects the same relentless spirit he brings to his personal journey.
Our Board brings together world-class scientists, biotech and pharma leaders, philanthropists, people with ALS and their families, and experts across venture capital, law, and technology. Eric’s voice and leadership will add a vital new perspective to this diverse and dedicated group.
We’re honored to welcome Eric to the Board as we work together to accelerate discovery and change what it means to receive an ALS diagnosis.

Ending ALS starts with a decision. To act. To care. To believe that progress shouldn’t move slower than the pace of this disease.
Right now, ALS still takes too much and gives too little time. But every breakthrough, every clinical trial, every moment of hope begins with someone choosing to step forward.
That’s why we’re launching a $500,000 fundraising effort to accelerate ALS research before December 31. And we’re doing it alongside @realericdane , who is lending his voice to help carry this mission further and louder than ever before.
Ending ALS starts with you.

This week, I met with @realericdane and the team at @iamalsorg to discuss the pending reauthorization of my 2021 bill, the ACT for ALS.
The ACT for ALS had the most bipartisan cosponsors 117th Congress with over 330 cosponsors in the House. It’s because of the ALS community and incredible advocates like Eric Dane that we have such incredible support and were able to make big strides in ALS research and health care access. I look forward to working with my colleagues to reauthorize this vital funding.
We're thrilled to announce Push for Progress, a groundbreaking campaign to accelerate ALS research, expand access to treatments, and secure $1 billion in federal funding for ALS over the next three years.
I AM ALS—called the 'most successful patient advocacy movement of the 21st century—is launching this campaign now because ALS is at a tipping point. New treatments are within reach, but thousands of people living with ALS will lose access unless we take action.
