She's a wife, a mom, an avid reader, and she can hold her own when it comes to obstacles. She's earned podiums from Highlander Assault, Abominable Snow Race, Savage, and more. We once surprised her by showing up to her house, unannounced, to let her know we were building her a backyard rig. (Thanks to her husband who planned it all out.) Reading Update! I said I wanted to update quarterly, but here we are. Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman - interesting content but a slow read for me. And it made me feel dumb to read all the shortcuts my brain takes that are bringing me to incorrect conclusions 😆 My favorite part was about interviewing and hiring! The Beautiful Ones by Silvia Moreno-Garcia - I enjoyed this read. Romance. Betrayal. A little magic. A couple quirky characters. What’s not to like? Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir - Little Man saw the preview for this and wanted to read the book. I had to read it first to make sure it was appropriate. SO. GOOD. Now I can’t wait for him to finish it so we can talk about it! Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier - The naïveté of the narrator made me want to shake her. A little creepy at parts. A lot of frustrating at parts. I’m glad I read it, but I’m not sure if I enjoyed it. A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab - Easy read with magic and travel between worlds. Delilah Bard is the coolest. I already checked out the next book in the series. James by Percival Everett - This novel made me want to re-read Huck Finn. Such an interesting perspective and so compelling. I think I read this one in a few days. My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante - How had I not heard of Elena Ferrante until a few weeks ago!? I’m so invested in the characters. Love her writing style. #currentlyreading The Story of a New Name by Elena Ferrante - now I need to read all the Neapolitan novels! #librarybooks #bookstagram #readmorebooks

Reading Roundup from the second half of 2025. My New Year’s resolution for 2026 is to post these more often so I don’t have to cram 15 books in one post. Piranesi - Susannah Clarke I’m not sure if I liked this one or just couldn’t put it down because I was so confused and wanted to know what was going on. Sea of Tranquility - Emily St. John Mandel I enjoyed the way this story unfolded and wove together across time and locations. The Chosen - Chaim Potok Heartwarming and heart-wrenching story about friendship and father-son relationships Sankofa - Chibundu Onuzo This was a wonderful story and reminder than it is never too late to find yourself and your place. The Winter People - Jennifer McMahon I couldn’t put this one down. I really enjoyed the storytelling, and it was just spooky enough without being outright scary. Tender is the Flesh - Agustina Bazterrica This book was so visceral. I found myself having to stop reading to collect myself at some parts. It is well-written, and I’m glad that I read it, but I can’t imagine recommending it to anyone. But if anyone HAS read it… I’d love to discuss it with you. Charm City Rocks - Matthew Norman Cute little romance novel The Sun Also Rises - Ernest Hemingway This one dragged for me. Lady Brett Ashley is a badass, and all the men are awful. Atonement - Ian McEwan Interesting story, but this one wasn’t a page-turner for me I’m going to group these together as the first two were re-reads: The Book of Dust - Philip Pullman Volume One: La Belle Sauvage Volume Two: The Secret Commonwealth Volume Three: The Rose Field I am obsessed with the original His Dark Materials trilogy, and the first two books in The Book of Dust hold up. I was so excited for the final book to be released this fall. It was disappointing. I felt like the first half was still good, but the ending felt abrupt and unsatisfying. Yellowface - R.F. Kuang Well-written cast of unlikeable characters. Hints of Poe’s Tell-Tale Heart The God of the Woods - Liz Moore I really enjoyed reading this one. #currentlyreading The Buffalo Hunter Hunter - Stephen Graham Jones Liking this one so far. It’s getting creepy! #librarybooks #bookstagram

@medalmonday is from @hyroxamerica in Chicago last Friday. Thanks @katiebfit82 for being my partner! We had a couple missteps, but we beat last year’s time, and we know where we can improve. And we finished 22nd out of 206 women’s doubles in our age group 💪🏻💪🏻 Not bad! Thanks @hmaven55 for the coaching, cheering, and photos. It was great to see you! I’m so grateful for all your support over the past few years. This has been one of my best years racing, and I couldn’t have gotten here without your coaching! It’s officially my off season. Looking forward to coming back even stronger in 2026.

The best part of Midwest OCR isn’t the obstacles… and that’s saying something, because ours are some of the best in the entire sport. But what truly sets this race apart is the family you meet out there... the people who cheer you on, lift you up, push you through, and celebrate with you at the finish line. Every year, our community grows stronger. Every year, strangers become teammates. Every year, Midwest OCR feels more like coming home. If you already know you’re joining us in 2026, lock in your spot now and save big. If you’re new… come see why this race family is unlike anything else in OCR. Let’s build something unforgettable together. 💙🙌 #midwestocr #racereadyobstacles #ocr #ocrfamily #ocrcommunity #obstaclerace #ocraddict

#medalmonday is from @themidwestocr on Saturday. I went into this race just wanting to enjoy myself and try to keep my band. Getting 🥉 in Women’s Elite was a happy surprise. @racereadyobstacles - once again, you put on a fun, challenging race. I think you made us climb every single hill in that park 😱 Thanks for all that you do to put this race together, and all that you do for the OCR community! And thanks for always giving me a hug no matter how gross I am from racing ❤️ Speaking of OCR community… I was super excited to see my Flatliners #fitfam at this race. Thanks to @katiebfit82 and @jen_swoboda23 for carpooling. We are a good road trip team! And thank you to @william.nick.02 for sticking with me most of the race and encouraging me along the way. I hope your hand heals quickly! Thanks to the @ultifit team for always welcoming the Flatliners orphans to your tent 😆 And thanks to coaches @brian_redard and @fit_tori33 for the lache training. I made it through When Pegs Fly on my first try because of it! It was wonderful to see so many @usaocr teammates out there as well! And the ladies podium was a full sweep of national team athletes, both Skull Division and Bearded Challenge! Congrats to @courtwash09 @kaeleyw and @vivandletviv You are all such amazing athletes, and I’m proud to call you teammates! And thanks for @hmaven55 for all your coaching and cheering me on from afar! Phew! I hope I didn’t miss anyone. There was a lot to be grateful for this weekend. Love this community. Love this sport.
