Last week Eastleigh Borough Council's Planning Committee resolved to grant approval for our Reserved Matters application for The Folds at @onehortonheath - a consent that will provide 629 new homes.
The committee recognised that the proposals delivered a design rooted in strong placemaking principles, integrated green infrastructure and a coherent movement strategy, underpinned by robust technical work.
We worked hard to create neighbourhoods that will be enjoyable to inhabit and easy to navigate. Tree-lined streets connect dedicated walking and cycling routes. Squares and focal points are woven into the masterplan, creating character and helping with wayfinding. Homes that are contemporary in style but rooted in local character.

Consent has been granted for the renovation of a 1970s home on the Godalming hill side. With subtle yet effective changes, we have maximised the potential of the existing building and significantly improving its thermal performance, without compromising the distinctive character of the original building.
A new staircase is proposed, connecting all levels, but acting as a focal, sculptural element within the house.
Additional living accommodation will be created through the introduction of a roof terrace. A modest extension is also proposed at the lowest ground floor level to enlarge the home office and provide a guest suite.
As part of the thermal upgrade the external finishes will be replaced with a new cladding system and all existing windows will be replaced.

The @mccarthyandstone project is for 45 apartments on the former Maritime Academy site. Responding carefully to the sensitive historic context, the design has considered the scale, height, massing and layout carefully to fit the surrounding area. The architecture balances visual interest with restraint, using articulated facades, recesses, projections and varied window rhythms to reduce overall mass and create visual depth.

The palette is warm and understated: pale buff brick complemented by soft green-beige tones, with pops of soft red brick and dark timber boarding adding variety.
Apartments feature bold bases and generous balconies. Houses have pitched roofs and subtle detailing that create character at a human scale. Townhouses and maisonette blocks sit between the two, stitching the streetscape together into something coherent and considered.
