Wow. What a moment!
So much has changed since my first-born book hit the shelves three years ago. As the rights of trans and Black and other historically excluded folks continue to be dismantled, I’m reminded of the possibilities Black trans imaginations offer us. The examples of love and rigor and triumph and collaboration and commitment it affords us. The kind of vulnerability and protection it demands. That’s really what WE SEE EACH OTHER is about.
Thank you to every reader. (You audiobook girlies, too!) I’m grateful for your witnessing and hope you’re not being stingy with what you learned or what stays with you. 💜
And shoutout to all the authors who don’t make a bestseller list, or get a book award, or earn out your advance. WE SEE EACH OTHER! 😜 (Still for sale everywhere books are found lol)
Last week, myself and @transjournalists hosted an event in San Francisco — a series of live interviews conducted by trans journalists with four folks engaged in the fight for trans rights. This is, in part, what promoting accurate, nuanced coverage of our rights and communities and supporting the careers of gender expansive journalists looks like.
We’re building a future of journalism where stories about trans people are just, ethical, and informed by our leadership. Support that work by following @transjournalists . 💜
We thought we’d do something a little off the wall for our last #MaxFunDrive episode…our friend @rayzhon was gracious enough to join us for our discussion/processing of MICHAEL. Then we chat about some biopics that really work for us. Listen after visiting MaximumFun.org/joinmaxfilm!
Too late for the summer body so let’s focus on the summer blockbusters! ☀️ With a lineup this good, the only thing we’re sweating is how to secure our tickets opening weekend.
🔊Tap into our latest episode to hear our must-see picks for the season. Did we leave anything off the list?

Who gets to tell the story shapes the story itself. 📰
At The New York Times’ annual shareholders meeting, a parent asked a direct question about the real-world impact of its coverage of trans communities. It is a question that points to something bigger: accountability, and who is actually in the newsroom when these stories are told.
As TJA Executive Director Tre’vell Anderson says, trans people are still largely absent from newsrooms. That absence shows up in the coverage. If newsrooms want to get these stories right, trans people need to be part of telling them. 🏳️⚧️

Trans stories are being turned into spectacle and talking points that strip people down to symbols. 🛑
Join us in conversation with journalists and media workers actively pushing back against the ways trans lives are sensationalized in today’s media landscape.
