Her name is Ray @ray.linnet She was born in South Sudan, but her childhood unfolded in Kakuma refugee camp, arriving there at just three years old with her mother and grandmother. It wasn’t an easy place to grow up, yet it became the ground where her strength quietly took root. Life taught her resilience early; classrooms were few, moments of exclusion stung, and being different was always visible. But childhood still found a way: laughter with siblings friendships that made the days lighter a grandmother whose words carried more power than circumstance “She reminded me that where you begin does not decide where you end.” Her path through school from Kakuma to Kapenguria, Nakuru, and eventually Lugulu Girls’ High School was more than movement across places. It was a slow, steady widening of possibility, shaped by courage long before she realized it. Then one day, our paths crossed and we were instantly inspired. Meeting her wasn’t just about finding a model; it was a moment to celebrate resilience, creativity, and heart in motion. We knew immediately that her story was one we wanted the world to see. Today, she carries the MSETO collection a story of courage, craft, and community still unfolding.
