Installation of these commercial coolers marks a huge milestone for this project and the community. They will provide 5760 cubic feet of organic vegetable cold storage for our growing little city.
Say hello to Bob the newest member of our team. Bob doesnât mind digging holes and lifting heavy things, in fact he loves it. Bob is as powerful as 70 horses and is ready to get the job doneđ #revelstokebuilder #bobcatequipment
If you have driven by the farm in the last couple of months, you probably noticed some development. We have been working hard with @raven.contracting for the last year and a half to bring this idea to life.Â
What are we building? We are building cold storage with an insulated washânâpack facility. This building will store over 30,000 lbs of veggies, significantly increasing food security in Revelstoke and helping turn our farm into a four-season farm. We will grow as many storage crops as we can to fill it in the fall and distribute to Revelstoke through the winter. For items we canât grow in our valley or we canât grow enough of ourselves, we will source from our local and regional growers, many of whom you would know from the @revelstokefarmersmarket
We want to thank @raven.contracting for their immense help navigating the world of building permits and design. Their expertise has been invaluable and crucial to the success of this project. It is impressive to watch them navigate the many challenges that building brings. We still have lots more to do, but we are off to a great start!Â
Thank you to the @iafbc for the grant that makes this all possible. This grant will truly support us in shoring up our local food system.
Lastly, another massive thank you to the Revelstoke community for supporting our farm. So many of you go out of your way to purchase our veggies. None of this is possible without you.
We look forward to the next few years to see where this adventure takes us.
We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the Province of British Columbia through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
